2008 Suzuki SX4 Crossover User Reviews

- It is actually quite a gas guzzler with no way to cut off the all wheel drive for city driving
- Awful driver placement position - if you move a little forward you lose the mirror views
I rented this while my car is being repaired. Very slow pickup with the automatic transmission - it burns gas like crazy yet the acceleration is lukewarm. Compared to my 2001 Jetta this car seems to almost sit on the road without moving. The automatic transmission is slow to shift and the end produces an awful revving sound when you step on the pedal. The interior is decent if you're more budget minded, stereo is okay, almost no trunk space. Looking at how close the back seats are to the rear bumper I pray to god that I have no people in the back. In case of a rear collision by the looks of it they'd be dead on the spot!...read morehide

- Drives nice...a small complete package, loaded with value
- Gas milage is way below listed MPG average
I just bought this car...it handles really well, drives nice, is fairly quiet, has some really great features for the price. My other car is an Audi TT....so I was not looking for a sports car...just a good reliable work car...with better gas milage than the SUV I traded in...unfortunantly...the gas milage is the downside of this car..it does not get anywahere close to the advertised MPG ratings posted. I have put two tanks of gas in this car...with about 75% driving on the freeway...and am averageing right at 20MPG...not close to the 28 highway...and even below the 22 city...so just a warning. I have read other posts that new owners were getting better milage. Still...I really like this car...and don't regret buying it...just hope the MPG improves...read morehide

- AWD feature, 4WD lock-up, 4 disc brakes, rear leg room
- quirky windshield wipers (one long and the other very short), small cargo area
We bought a 2007 base model with automatic transmission on Dec. 23, 2007. We live in a rural area in Central Washington. My wife is the regular user of the vehicle. So far she has put in 27,000 miles on it. Besides the regular oil change every 3,000 miles, we haven't done anythiong else. This winter we have put on four Winterforce snow tires to improve its deep snow capability across the Cascades and the 600-foot gravel driveway of our home.
The snow prowess stands this little car out over the Mazda Tribute she used to have and the Grand Vitara that I drive, both of which are tall and jittery. However, it does not pick up as quickly as one desires it. And it feels weak on long hills over the Cascades. I suspect a manual transmission would well take care of the above two complaints. If gas mileage is what the reader is interested, the followinging is the gas mileage log of the car. Mind you we live in a rural area where there is no traffic jam, and minimum trafic lights.

- Not bad for engine, good performance
- No complaints
Fun to drive. Good buy, sharp looking, all bells and whistles for economical price. I would not have bought any other vehicle. For the first time I am satisfied with teh car I bought. I have owned five different cars in last 7 years and regretted buying everyone except this one.

- Exceptional Value, Best HP in class, AWD, Compliments from everyone
- Should come standard with arm rest. However, for $200 and I put in one AND fog lights
I get compliments on this car all the time. Most say, "Wow, I love that car! What exactly is it?" It looks like a Mini Cooper mixed with a VW Bug on steroids. I've upgraded mine with better looking rims and replaced the OEM tires with all season Kumho's. I also added fog lights (Suzuki charges about $450 for the lighs - that includes install charge) but I did it with a friend with $20 lights from Auto Zone and they look and work great. I also added an armrest. Overall, I really love the performance, the gas milage, the look and feel of the car. If you want a unique car, one that's AWD, fun and sporty for under $15 K and you want over 20 mpg, this is the car to get. I bought mine used with 4k miles on it for 13500. You won't find a better option at that price. I recommend buying it used because it has a fully transferrable free 100,000 warranty on the powertrain.

- Got our 2008 in October 2007, and were impressed with its fit and finish, considering its price.
- With automatic trans, only getting 23-24 mpg combined, but with only 1300 mi.
Impressed with the build quality and how substantial it feels on the road. So far we have 1300 mi on it, and the mpg's have increased slightly over the break-in period. The engine has decent power now, more than it did, and the 7/100 powertrain warrantee inspires confidence. We shopped this car b/c of AWD, and the dealership was willing to deal. I felt good knowing that everything is stamped "Japan." I am a VW guy, but have to admit that, for the money, this is a nice AWD car with versitility and value. Why pay 20G for the base Subaru Impreza ?...read morehide

- Suzuki's best kept secret. Got mine in March, great little car, averaging 28miles to the gallon.
- Parts and accesories are limited and accesories available in Europe,Canada and Asia are not in U.S.
Suzuki's best kept secret. Got mine in March, great little car, averaging 28 miles to the gallon combined. Would like to have a hitch for bike rack, as the roof mounted rack adds to highth and restricts clearance. Great car for the money, and only one in it's class with selective AWD, and 143 horsepower. Accesories available in Europe, Canada and Asia are not available in the U.S....read morehide
