- Excellent engine, transmission and supension to pull stuff up hill !!!!!
- Missing some high tech features, like computerized mileage gauges and some other digital devices!
Purchased As Used
I really would like to get an american truck, but unfortunately there isn't any american small and strong truck like toyo taco available. Back in 2008 a friend of my had a brand new Ford F150 and we were doing some paver work together in a house up in the hill. I was very surprised and disappointed so was he, when we loaded up his truck to take the pavers up in a very stiff driveway, but his suspension wasn't tough enough to support that weight . So we had to remove half of it in order to go up the hill. Now was my turn, so I loaded up my toyo taco and guess what:
I BACKED UP HILL VERY EZ!!!! Excellent 4.0 v6 engine, and gas mileage $50 per week, 2 x 4 and suspension with the best and expensive shocks from the manufacture.
There is no doubt at all that there isn't an small american truck available as of yet comparable to toyo taco.
I HAD TO LAUGH AT HIM VERY MUCH!...read morehide

- Nice ride, interior comfort, nice looking truck
- Vibration at 35 t0 50 tires? brakes soft
I purchased a 2006 Tacoma Sport access cab drove it for 2 days
and returned it to the dealer. You've got to be kidding me Toyota
I was a Ford Truck man but decided to try a Toyota Tacoma after hearing all the good reviews. Don't get me wrong it's a nice truck.
But after doing some research I reaiized there was a problem with
a vibration in the drive train that Toyota had not figured out yet.
They say it's the tires? but after doing some internet research
from owners of the Sport Tacoma who had there tires replaced
a few times (with different brands)only to find out the vibration
was still there.
Come on Toyota you must know what causes this Vibration.
If anyone has a Tacoma Sport model and feels the vibration
in the steering wheel at 35-50 apond accelerating write a review
and let Toyota know. Thank You...read morehide

- Good fuel economy for a truck, good power and it looks great!
- I really cannot think of any cons, I'm sure there are but I can't see any.
This is simply a great truck, I really enjoy driving my Tacoma. Before I bought my Tacoma, I owned a 2002 Dodge Ram and although it looked good I had nothing but problems. Fuel economy was poor on the bigger Ram so when I got tired of throwing money at fixing a four year old truck, I went looking for a new one. I finally decided on the Tacoma and I'm sure I made the right choice. This truck has everything you could want in a truck and then some. It looks great, drives great and I don't forsee any problems considering Toyota's track record. I wish I had bought the Tacoma the first time instead of the Ram because I also own a 1998 Camary and I have not had any problems, 165,000 miles and it still runs like new. Anyway if anyone is actually reading this, go for the Tacoma, great truck and a great Value....read morehide

- Handles great for a truck
- Brakes weak, power so-so, tires awful.
Iv'e had this truck about 1 1/2 years and had all kinds of trouble with the stock tires. It handles better than any truck I've ever owned although italso is the first one with a rear stabilizer bar so it's hard to compare to others fairly. It does get lots of comments on how rough it rides but I expected that. Acceleration for a small truck is adequate but no race car. 235 H.P. is nothing great for a 4.0 L. I expected more. The multiple gears make it feel faster than it really is. Brakes fade quickly in mountains or with a load. All in all a nice sports truck but don't buy it thinking you can take on V-8 cars in a drag race....read morehide

- Fuel economy
- Standard model is dumbed down from others- buy extend cab versions & get better quality!
good fuel economy. good paint. Standard cab versions are dumbed down. Buy extend cab versions if you want quality. Shocks need to be up-graded asap. Door panels are flimsy. Speakers must be replaced as oem parts are faulty.

- Great handling, very comfortable, and drives like a car.
- Customer service.
I love my truck but the quality isn't what I thought it would be. My tailgate bent loading a small motorcyle in the back and they refuse to replace it even though I did it the same way it is done in the brochure. That was a big selling point for me when I bought it. Now I have to buy a trailer cause my truck isn't tough enough. Should have bought a Chevy....read morehide

- Great Value for the money.
- Sticky shifty
I'm impressed with this truck, I drove 2500 miles with a 500 lbs load and had no problems with power. That includes going over West Virginia and Tennesses mountains. For an I4, i had no problem going 70 straight up a mountain (usually, in 4th going up a hill on the freeway). I've had the tacoma for over 10,000 miles now and the only problem I have is shifting into first or reverese, and it is a little bit of a stretch to push it into right field (5th gear). The base model is a little cramped in the cab, but overall performance wise, and for the money, I am very satisfied with what I got and would recommend it over domestic models....read morehide

- smooth ride , TRD package comes with big tires, good fuel economy, it can burnout, very fast accel.
- you cant plug your ipod into the car stereo. there really arent any cons
I really love my Tacoma!!! It has 5 star crash test ratings for every catagory. If you crash in this car you are garunteed not to get seriously injured. Its impossible to flip this truck over (believe me ive done some crazy stuff that has rolled over 3 different jeep wranglers)
The inside is really nice especially if you get the TRD package. Comes with really cool bucket seats with the TRD package. YOU HAVE TO GET THE TRD PACKAGE!!!!!!!
This is a great truck for just cruisin around and its also great for off-roading. You will be satisfied if you buy this truck. It is truly the best mid-size pickup that is currently available....read morehide

- Great standard features, good performance and 25 average MPG
- Shifting is only fair, A/C clutch sometimes makes noise
Over all the truck is very nice. I have 13,000 mi. on it and all is well. Side winds make it feel alittle unsettling but other than that the ride is good. If I use fourth gear going up hill on the freeway I have no problem with power even with a small load.I got a great deal on it buying it on a dealer advertisement. Some times I have trouble shifting into first or reverse and a long throw to fifth. Gas milage is great compared to my last trucks 9 MPG...read morehide
