2006 Toyota Tacoma 4X4

- not enough power, cab too small for passengers in access cab.
I have owned Toyotas in the past, but this is not a good model. There is no power. The cab headroom is too small, and the seats are like cardboard boxes. I traded a Chevy Silverado for this. I wish I kept my Chevy. No comparison. Toyota dropped the ball on this one.

- Great fuel economy, Tons of ground clearance, Tons of power for an I-4, Will go anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!
- None really, Just wish it had a steel bed. Other than that I love this thing.
Well this is my first TACO and I love it so far. I do agree that the trans is kind of weird but what do you expect for a 4cyl. Its got tons of power for a 4 banger, and handles great. Its also a plus that it will go anywhere. I never bought one in the past because they were always way to small for me, thats why the new trucks are so great because me being 6'4" and 235lbs its perfect.
Although it was hard going from a v-8 to an I-4 It has more than enough power it will still go 100 it just takes a little longer to get it there. My cousin has the same truck with the V-6 and all he bitches about is the fuel mileage. And if it wont pull or haul something that I need to, I have friends with V-8's. If you can BUY ONE OF THESE!!!!!!!...read morehide

- Not many...roomy, nice that the rear doors open to access the back.
- Cheap construction, kinda bulky truck, rides rough, lots of funny noise, cd player sucks
I own a 2004 base model I got new for 12,300 off the lot(put some TRD upgrades...love this truck), my two work trucks are a 2000 Xcab SR5 V6 4X4 with a 3" lift, fun truck for off road & a 2005 SR5 Access cab 4X4 hate this truck...hope we can trade it in for a Tundra. They made the new Tacomas to big...& to cheap in quality. I hope they go back to the smaller guys....read morehide

- Reliable and very comfortable for a 4X4
- Bulky body style and under powered
Hey Toyota...if it ain't broke don't fix it! If I had wanted a bigger truck, I would have opted for the Tundra. The 2006 Tacoma is too bulky and under powered. Gas milage varies very little between the 2.7L I4 and the V6 - go with the V6 power. I purchased my Tacoma due to little choice in finding a clean used mid-size 4X4. Otherwise I would have picked the smaller (used) Tacoma. However, you can't beat Toyota's reliability....read morehide

- 4Low in secound gear you can go anywhere
- not enuff power, its a terd
I love my 06' Taco but i would give anything to go back to the day i bout it and get a 6 cylinder. I have a lift, biger tires, brush guard, skid plates, and alot more. DO NOT put a K&N cold Air intake on this vehicle. Oil from filter will ruin you (MAS) Mass air flow sensor. Trust me. When this truck wears out i will definitly buy another Taco but it will be TRD Sport supercharged 6 cyc....read morehide

- good fuel economy
- needs cruise and power windows
I carry 800 lbs. all the time (cap & tools). Sometimes have to go down to 3rd gear on steep hills (45-50 mph). Goes ok on hills without downshifting on freeway. Cab feels roomy and "jump seats" folded down in back make ideal place for dog. Revs kind of high on first start up on cold engine (2,000 rpm). Handles very well for the use I give it. Stereo is ok (6 speaker). Overall am very happy- doing the same job as my previous V-6 but saving $400 plus per month in gas ( I drive about 35k-45k per year...read morehide
