- Very Solid and well built, drives smooth
This car is absolutely fantastic. I honestly cannot think of anything negative to say, other than I wish I had bought one of these years ago. Went from an s-10 to this and the difference is extreme. This car handles and drives like a very smooth, well built car. Very quiet. I Bought the Double Cab TRD off road package and am very glad that I did. The car has smart features. In my old truck, the X cab was full of things like jumper cables, first aid kit, etc. This car has space to conceal all of that.
I cant say enough good about it. I plan on keeping it for the long term. I looked at GM, Nissan and Honda before buying this one - Toyota has an unbeatable repuation for quality. If you are considering a new truck, buy this one....read morehide

- Looks, functionality
- mileage (but hey, it's a truck)
I've had my double cab 4X4 for six weeks, and I couldn't be happier. I went with the chrome wheels and lower profile tires -- makes it look a lot better, imho. I also replaced the 6-disc head unit with a pioneer that works with my i-pod. I can control the i-pod and keep it charged while it sits in the glove box. The jbl speakers sound much better with the new stereo. I won't replace them. Lastly, I added the truck bed fork mount for my bicycle. It was easy to install, and the truck looks great with a bike in the bed.
The ride is comfortable, and the ergonomics are good (lumbar support, tilt/telescopic steering wheel). Mine came with windows already tinted, which is great since I live in Texas. Other nice touches include under- and behind-seat storage. This thing also has eight bottle holders and five cupholders. None of my friends can beat that =)...read morehide

- Good highway gas milage, leg room, visibility
- Non-tilt steering wheel, noticable shift of shorts when Air/AC is on
Overall I love this truck. I leased it new & it has not given me any problems as of yet. Lousy gas milage when city driving, good when on the highway or freeway. Ample room in the truck, visibility is good. Hate that the steering wheel doesn't tilt unlike in my former 2001 Tacoma. Also there is a noticable shift when I'm stopped and have the AC on & my foot had better be firmly on the brake otherwise the truck will lurch forward a bit. Still, the truck is fun. I take it on long drives to the coast and beaches with no worries....read morehide

- Versatile, good power, solid build, smooth ride, brakes
- Mystery noise/condition
My truck is an Auto Dbl Cab TRD-Offroad with Revtek 3" lift, MickeyT tires and wheels (from the dealer). With only 1500 miles on my truck, I have no real complaints. The mystery noise was duplicated by the service tech but no one knows what it is (happens in this sequence: start-up, release e-brake, drive to 5 mph, then mystery noise, then it's gone...just like that). There is also a bit of a "washboard feeling" when slowing down or speeding up to 20 mph. However I am certain that it has something to do with the lift.
All said, there is nothing that would stop me from recommending or purchasing (another) Tacoma. I have a 1991 Landcruiser also with over 200k miles on the original drivetrain and it is still going strong (reliable as well). If not for my experience with this Landcruiser I probably would not have bought a Tacoma.
I love both of my trucks and can say nothing bad about either one of them. If you want a long lasting product you've found it.
For the nimrods that are quick to bash an automobile manufacturer think about this: man makes robots, robots and man make vehicles (and their parts), both are prone to error...not to mention man drives the vehicle. There is no such thing as a mass produced perfect car (or anything)....read morehide

- off road ability, stopping distance.
- emergency handling, lack of 4 wheel discs, a few squeeks and rattles, unsure of composite box.
I really liked this truck at first, but have found the feeling has worn off. My wife likes the interior, I never quite did, but that's not a biggy. I still think the dash/console looks as if it belongs in a sedan. The ride is quite bouncy and have found that the back end loves to swing out, a little scary on wet roads. The sales people have denied the truck has any noticeable rattles or squeeks. The stopping power is impressive, but the brakes seem to fade with repeated use. I also wish Toyota hadn't upsized the Tacoma as much as they did. It's a little awkward to park and maneuver. The gas mileage is competitive I think, but if you're towing I'd use premium. I'm now wondering if the payload will be as stated (Toyota lowered it for 07). I would like to put a camper on it, but it'll have to be an ultralight. And I hope to not have any paint chipping problems. The complaints seem to be rolling in. So far, so good on that front....read morehide

- Power, Comfort, Off Road Suspension, Skid Plates, ATF Cooler, No-Rust Bed
- Could use more room between gas pedal and break pedal
Went from a stripped down 2000 4 cyl. manual ext. cab Tacoma to the V6 Double Cab TRD Off Road and what a HUGE difference. Bigger Cab, Tons of power, Less Noisy, Smooth ride, heavy duty suspension...built very strong. I loved my 2000 but it can't compare to the '07 TRD. I have no complaints about the breaks, shifting, or drive ability. This truck is a dream. And it's a Toyota, most of all. I drove the 2000 for 160K miles and put 1 set of front break pads on it. Nothing else. Traded it with the Original exhaust, original clutch, original rear breaks, original everything. And if I ever need another one I'll be getting another Tacoma 10 years from now. You couldn't pay me to drive another truck from another manufacturer....read morehide

- Nothing to mention
- Not reliable at all.
People who voted this truck for "Most Reliable Truck" should go elsewhere and test drive another truck first, don't just only drive this truck and straight away vote this truck as most reliabl truck. This truck is not reliable at all, too many problems, from brake to suspension to gear box and to engine. Really have no idea how come this kind of truck can become "The Most Reliable Truck". Really regret to have bought such unreliable truck. No more Toyota next time....read morehide

- Great looks, smooth ride, great stereo,
This truck is incredible! I had my eye on it ever since the new model emerged in 2005. I would have to say that this truck is the best looking one on the road today. This truck is the perfect size, not too big and not too small. The deck rail system is great in the fact that the tie downs move around for securing cargo. The bed also has extra compartments for storage. The interior looks great with the two tone dash, plenty of cup holders, large glove box and middle console. The rear windows roll down 100% and there are handy compartments under the rear seats for storage It drives and handles like a dream. Take it off road, flip on the 4 wheel drive, and it will handle anything the terrain has to dish out. On top of that, it is made by Toyota. If you are in the market for a mid-size truck that will last, this is the one for you....read morehide

- decent power for V-6, bed utility system
- premium fuel, seating to low, must remove head rests to fold rear seat backs down, 5-speed searches
Not what it is made out to be, "One of the Most Reliable Trucks on the Market." All this below occured between 200 and 2000 miles of strictly city and highway driving.
In colder weather, the air box would rattle and knock when you hit bumps on the road or when starting the vehicle. Dealer indicated it is under a recal for this and said would fix. Went back four times, still didn't fix the problem. Discovered that the rear passenger fender moulding was comming apart from the fender. Bought truck to save money on gas but requires premium fuel which is atleast 20 cents more per gallon at the pump. If you don't use premium the engine knocks. Terrible!!!!!!!!!! This was my first and only Toyota Truck owned (only had for 4 months), already sold and got a Chevy, what a night and day difference!!!!!!!!!!!!...read morehide
