Had 1997 Tacoma that until I learned of the recall due to frame issues had been the best vehicle I had ever owned. Never had a problem with it. It was just the right size for my small city needs. Easy to park, Would haul those Home Depot items like plywood. lawn mower, plus new beds, dressers etc. Put on the shell and go on photo shoots in the country near by. Would have gotten another in a heartbeat but 2005 came along and the Tacoma grew.
The 2009 Tacoma is a good truck. Like the 1997 Tacoma it rides nice, has good power, and the transmission is very responsive. Gives the right control one wants with a vehicle that can't be had with an automatic. The back up camera is great.Back roads are fine and the 4 wheel drive does well. That trip to Lowes works out with room to spare. New the truck would be over priced but as a Certified Used Vehicle it is a great deal for someone who is looking for what is now passes as a compact truck. It is a shame however that the 1997 is no longer made. It was the perfect truck. Could go anywhere a jeep could. The current Tacoma can't.
