Purchased As New
I wanted to buy one truck and keep it indefinitely, instead of a new one every few years. I wanted to buy and keep a potential 300k mile vehicle. I sucked it up and went to Toyota, paying full price for a brand new truck. It has had every maintenance performed by the dealer since new.
I consider it a very poor investment. None of the legend is accurate - this truck has 60k freeway/town miles on it and - literally - is falling apart around me. The heater fan is shot, again, the hubcaps fall off, it BACKFIRES on every tenth or so startup and there is a "clank" that gets worse every time I push in the clutch, to name a few issues. My Ford Ranger had fewer problems (none, really) over it's first 100K miles with full maintenance. I payed around 10k less for it.
Save yourself, and do not purchase from Toyota. They are very difficult to deal with, and assume everything is your fault. The dealers seem trained to assume "it's a Toyota, it doesn't have any problems". At least, until it's off warranty.
Worst value lie in the market. This company has no honor - merely a group of international shareholders milking a reputation long bereft of its Japanese roots, at least until the market truth catches up to them.
