- its a toyota but
- poor gas mileage, interior cheap
Purchased As New
I owned a 2009 manual I4 4x4 and to be honest loved it. I wanted to update since its out of warranty and I do a lot of highway mileage and high miles
Pros: The truck remains good looking although I don't like the more brunt front end as much. They have added a convenience access package which brings cruise control and a few other nice options without going overboard for packages. Comfort isn't bad and ride quality is good.
Cons: The interior has become much cheaper. Lots more cold hard plastic. The steering wheel is significant thicker and is ugly. If small hands u may have problem. Big issue is the I4 mated with auto is a mule. The transmission shifts abruptly, is rough and noisy if pushed at all. Fine for a slow drive but otherwise not fun. The I4 strains to move truck along. My 2009 was actually fun to drive, this is a chore. Posted highway MPG of 21 can't be obtained even with careful driving. I average between 18 and 19 mpg. 2009 always got 22 to 23 mpg. Also technical knowledge of dealer I go to is questionable. When I asked why I was getting 16 mpg early on they told me it was the automatic. I told them the auto was getting higher mpg then manual due to technical advances They didn't know that. I had to suggest perhaps motor needs break in period. Geee
My advise is get a V6. Everyone I speak with reports over 20 mpg and good response. I am sad to say I wish I hadn't got this model. Tough lesson to learn
