2006 Toyota 4Runner

- Best looking mid-sized SUV on the market, MP3 jack so we can play the ipod, roomy with head/leg room
- Flip down "table" in middle console... two extra cup holders would have been better, 17 MPG average
I have NO IDEA what Allen from Edina MN is talking about when he says "not enough headroom and I am only 5'9". Don't believe it! I am 6'0" and I have plenty of head room even when wearing a hat!!! Maybe he didn't spend time to adjust the seat? I have even had two buddies I play hockey with who are 6'3" and 6'0" sit in the backseat when I am driving and we all have plenty of room. I am so happy with our 4Runner. I had wanted one since back when I was a broke student in grad school and now that I have one it doesn't disappoint. I bought the 4Runner 5 months ago and wanted to wait to write a review so to be sure I could give an accurate/fair review. The MP3 AUX jack in the middle console is great for crystal clear hookup of our ipod... no more radio transmitter with static for our trips! Only negatives are the 17mpg average after 5 months (but it is a V8 SUV what else should I expect?!?) Better than the 13mpg with the ugly Durango! Other negative is the mini flip-down table in the middle console. A waste of space... two more cupholders would be better. However, the 2 adjustable cupholder the 4Runner does have are great. Can adjust from a skinny Red Bull can to a huge to-go pop from the gas-station. I got the Sport in black and there is a definite WOW factor with co-workers/friends. Very sharp is black with silver trim!!!...read morehide

- Stability, reliability, great off-road for an SUV. Solid feel and build
- mpg should be better. Lack of leg room in front. Seats are not the most comfortable
This is the first Toyota I have owned and I am very impressed. There is NO comparison in quality between Chevy/Ford & Toyota. The American cars & trucks have a long way to go. The higher resale on Toyota trucks reflects this. I will probably never buy another american vehicle again. I was sick and tired of having to pay for major repairs on both Chevy/Ford trucks with low miles. The only complaint I have is that gas smells enter cab easily when rear window is even cracked open....read morehide

- Excellent Styling, Comfortable Ride, Decent factory sound system.
Purchased the vehicle 8 months ago. Love it. The V8 engine has excellent acceleration and is very smooth. Interior design is also very good. Only complaint is the controls for the power windows, it would help if they were lit. Would definitely get another Toyota SUV.

- Ride, ergonomics, looks, power rear window
- stock tires, fuel economy could be better
This is my second 4Runner. Had an '04 which I loved just as much. The redesign is great. Just as I did in the '04, I had to change the tires to something a little grabbier. In my opinion, that's where Toyota drops the ball on the 4Runner Sport. They made it extremely off-road capable, but put "Dunflop" tires on it. Otherwise, an excellent all around SUV. Very comfortable, rides better than a lot of car based SUVs. Super quiet at highway speeds and it has very stable handling. It has good storage space for drinks, coins, maps, etc. The power rear window is great if you have a dog that likes to hang out the windowIf you're taller than 6'3", you might have headroom issues with a sunroof. Though the '06 has height adjustment in the driver's seat. If you're looking to get an SUV that can actually go offroad, not kill your spine in the process and has great on road characteristics, the 4Runner is the way to go....read morehide

- Awesome SUV.
- horsepower & torque lower than 2005 model.
Toyota rated the 2005 model engine output without the power steering pump hooked up, resulting in 10 more hp & 24 more lb/ft of torque. MISREPRESENTATION. Cmon Toyota you are better than that. I called corporate office & they basically said tough luck. If you got ripped off call 1-800-331-4331.
