Purchased As New
Several friends bought earlier models of the 4Runner and have been really enjoying their vehicles. I traded my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo for a 2011 SR5 and so far it's been a great SUV.
Mileage is very good; almost 3 mpg better than the Jeep despite the 4Runner being a bigger and heavier vehicle. This is partially due to the fact that I can manually shift into 4High.The increased horsepower of the Toyota's V6 allows for easier towing of a duck boat and trailer than my old Jeep.
Although rear seat legroom is good, riders have not been too happy about the second-row seats; the seats could offer more cushioning. A ballistic nylon fabric option instead of leather with heated seats would also be nice.
It would have been great if more dealers offered the SR5 without the third-row seats. The available cargo space would have been useful.
The "bed" of the 4Runner is longer than the old Grand Cherokee's and it allows me to carry more stuff. The rear window, which disappears into the hatch, makes carryinng longer items less worrisome.
