- Pros
- Looks great, drives like a car, can go anywhere
- Cons
- The stereo and the electronics package
Purchased As New
I picked up a 2012 4Runner after being away from them for about a decade. This truck rides as well as any car I have owned in the meantime and is even more comfortable than I remember. I cannot find fault with the mechanics of the truck but the electronics leave MUCH to be desired.
The fact that Toyota stopped allowing the premium audio system in anything but the limited is mind boggling but what they did allow is even worse.
I bought an SR5 with the stock stereo and knew 10 minutes off the lot that I had a problem. The volume and sound that came out of my Dodge Grand caravan stock radio was TWICE what this produces. I spent over $30K on a vehicle that now needs another $1500 to make it sound acceptable.
A second point of contention is the USB port and 12V receptacle in the glove compartment..so I either charge my phone in the glove compartment and can't see it or put the NAV in there?
I always expect Toyota to 'get it right' and the insides of the 4Runner missed the mark this time....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- I like everything about the 4Runner
- Cons
- The ways it comes accessorized

This is my 2nd 4Runner and I love it. This 4Runner came 3rd row seat, running board, mudguard. I purchased 2 sets of the crossbars, the cargo cover and net. It looks amazing. For my taste is very confortable, and so far no complaint. People that purchased this vehicle have to understand that it is a SUV in a truck frame. I do get 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg in the highway, of course I know that this SUV is heavy (6300Lb). I do not accelerate fast and I do not drive it hard. People complaint about the bad fuel economy but they should understand what they are getting before they buy it. The fuel information is right on the sticker price. It shouldn't be a shocker. Just buy it, enjoy it and good luck....read morehide

Great vehicle if you tend towards adventure. Compromises can be painful but this vehicle seems to have found the balance (leaning towards offroad). This vehicle is capable as a daily commuter but once the road turns rough is when you discover why this vehicle was built. Remember this is a truck based SUV which means less "cushy" ride on the street. Good Luck...read morehide

I recently had a Toyota Rav4 and wanted something bigger. I only had the Rav4 for 7months. I absolutely love my 4Runner. This is my best purchase by far. I have taken my SUV to Austin and Houston... The ride is so smooth, and you can't beat the Bluetooth. If you are going to purchase one, get the moon-roof and running boards...I wish it had the 3rd row....read morehide
