I have had my car for three weeks and I am quite satisfied. I had a 2002 camry xle before I purchased the avalon.

- Very good economy (34 mph on highway) with more than enough power. Roomy quiet interior.
- Stiff ride with this touring model but I enjoy this after getting used to it.
Very nice car for the money. Toyota has done a very nice job with this vehicle. The quality is top notch. I have been driving this vehicle for six months and could not be happier.

- Unbeatable value for money, excellent power/wight ratio, reliability, fuel economy, quiet ride, turn
- Engine noise is heard a little more than usual from outside of car,
This is a keeper for me I just got the 5,000 miles and I love my car, the Touring suspension is sport tuned just right, not harsh like the MAxima SE, not soft like teh Avalon other models, remind me of Lincoln Yown Car. . . .
The power to weight ratio is very good, same engine as 2005 (280 Horses guys!!!!!!!!!!!) the government changed the way the measure and report those parameters. enough to play around.
I just returned form a long trip in middle east coast and can attest now that this car feels great and stick to the road at 120 MPH, of course I did not think it would have been responsible to drive any faster for test purposes.
It could use a couple of changes in its degign .
Suggestion for the manufacturer here ARE YOU LISTENING TOYOTA??
First thing I wouldchange is the AC/off button from the steering wheel removed it is too easy to tur it off while turning on a corner or making a U turn, etc.
# 2 change I would find a way to put a little more pressure on the steering wheel at higher speeds than 45 MPH for Hwy driving, the steering feels a little too soft for the touring package.
This is nitpicking now. . .. for a car that performs the way this one does, with the reliability of Toyota, and the fuelk economy WOW I was able to get 33 and 34 MPG on hwy driving at speeds of 60 to 65 MPH, now once you g up in speed of course your consumption goes up as well, I have gotten a satisfactory 26 to 27 MPG at 85 tp 100 MPH on medium trips (20 or 30 miles)
That is awesome!!!!
I am just not used to getting almost 500 miles out of a tank of gas, not from a car like this!!!!!!!!
Folks in short the level of comfort, power and overall satisfaction this car provides make it an unbeliavable value for the money.
Don't tell Toyota the Avalon is underpriced, the way I see it is 90% of the Lexus GS300 ($ 48K Vs Avalon $29K), for 60 % of the price is what I call an awesome deal.
I tested to buy the mighty Maxima and loved it as well, but reliability and fuel economy are the deal makers in this case, with price of crude expected to rise and teh uncertainty of economy I might not be able to buy a new car for Lord knows how many mroe years and reliability is a very big factor right now.
I was able to test wuite a few cars before I bought mine including Lexus IS 250 (not confortable for a guy my size, more for smaller people or a lady) the GS300 (now that's a car), BMW series 3 has the turning abilities but the comfort is just not there, BMW series 5 I leked but too much of an investment, I would like to have driven the Hyundai Azera to cmpare but it came into the market right afetr I purchased my Avalon; one detail folks, this car's rear seats recline . . .
How cool is that!!!!
My kids love it!!! this car feels at home not only with a rambouxious family of 5 but also on a busniess meeting ride as well.
All around excellent car.
Hope this helps a little....read morehide

- Good performance and fuel economy
- shifting is a little sluggish, but smooth
It took me a long time to decide on this car, but after 6K miles I'm happy with my decision. I'm not sure the extra cost for options on the XLS and Limited were a good value.

- Leg Room both front and back. Comfortable seating,
- Noise of engine at startup and while idling, no ashtray for spare change
This is my first Toyota ever. I had heard so much about the realiability and value of Toyota, that I thought about it immediatley when my minivan started acting up. I love the quality and style of the Avalon. I don't like that awful egg smell after driving at a fast speed. :) However, I am satisfied and would recommend this car to others....read morehide

- Fuel Economy, Room
- looks,city driving, heated seats
I have just bought the 2006 Avalon touring , and its a great car, very fast and still great on gas.
-1st off i want t osay that i have gotten 34MPG on this car driving at 60-65 mpr for a 100 miles drive, but as soon as i do 80+mph and have the a/c on then i starte getting 27.5mpg (which i am still very happy with for a car still size and comforte)
-The auto a/c is almost great, or its near perfect i should say, excepte on a day when its 60 outside and you set it to its lowest (65) and it will work at its lowest and not provide you with enough cooling, forceing me to have to set the fan speed up.
- I first got the car back in Dec and it was cold so i used the heated seat everyday, it took less then 5 minutes to get really warm/hot but now its march and the seat heater is running very weak, a full 15 minutes and it still doesnt feel to ewarm compared to what is use to be like before.
- There is some kind of noise/rattleing in the back right corner of the car ( i think its from the inside truck area) and i also noticed other peole have talked about that also.
- The headlihts on this car are wonderful and best of all they adjust, meaning move up and down, and i got those super whites or whatever they are called, so at night its great driving in this car.
-So far in a 4 month period have have a little over 6000 miles and this car is just great, i really love everything about it and i am sure it wont disapoint anyone thats thinking about buying it. Also this car is VERY QUITE when it comes to road noise.
- Also for the money it costs and the cars in its class you really are getting the best deal you can ( i got mine for $28.912, thats after i went to 5 toyota dealership's, so shop around it took me 2 months to land this deal)
Overall i think this is the best car out there todate and wil be for a while until the other car companys can bring out anything thats even close to what this car offers for its price, plus its a toyota so i am sure it will last me a long time....read morehide

- Great fuel economy (25 city, 31 hwy is my experience), New Styling
- Engine is a little whiney on take off
I bought this car 1 month ago and have been very happy with the performance and value. The styling is Lexus-esq and the price tag is Toyota. The Touring edition has a firm ride, not like XLS, but still comfortable. The ride is quiet, even at speeds of 65+. The car gets to cruising speed remarkably fast.
The interior is refined, with more driver amenities than previous models. The dashboard is illuminated like a Lexus with stark white and red displays, unlike like the old Toyota yellowish glow. I'm 6'2" and have plenty of leg room in the back with front seets fully pushed back. The front seats are adjustable in seemingly endless combinations and the steering wheel telescopes in/out as well as up/down.
I am very happy with this car and recommend it to anyone wanting a large sedan. It beats Maxima and Accord, hands down no contest....read morehide
