- Smooth Ride, Big Car, 6CD Changer with 9 speakers, 7 airbags
- Expensive, Passenger Seat isn't Automatic
A will reccomend this car to whoever is looking for one....although if it's too pricy you can also go with the camry (which is basically the same but less luxurious and powerful). This car itself is really great and has things other cars (including Mercedez) don't have!!!
For example, it has 7 airbags, that's a great safety feature! People always talk about how big the car is, how powerful (this car has both by the way), but this car is really safe to drive in. 7 AIRBAGS!!!! What does you current car have?
For all you music fans, here's something!!!! 6CD Changer with 9 speakers. Yep! This is the Avalon I'm talking about!!!!
Go in the car, and find out for yourself. This car is sweet....read morehide

- Smooth ride, 6 CDs, both elegant and sporty. A roomy and luxirous ride.
- The passenger seat isn't automatic (my 1999 model was), gets dirty easily
I owned a 1999 Toyota Avalon, but had a car accident, decided to buy the 2006 model. I've had it for about 2 months now and it;s a GREAT car, not perfect, but great.
~The 2006 had improved from the 1999 (mostly) but don't all cars improve? You can now play 6 CDs and it had nine speakers. The '06 is more roomy and luxiourious.
~The passenger seat wasn't automatic, my 1999 model was. (Now that's only avaliable with the limited :P) Once my sunglasses got stuck inside the sunglasses case, but that was my fault since I put it in the wrong way (it's cool that it has one, I don't need to carry my whole glasses box with me).
~My Avalon XL has all the side features....the moonroof is nice (the kids love it), the mirror is like a remote control (it opens the garage door) it also is like a cumpus, the car alarm goes off by itself (great when your carrying heavy groceries and you have no hands).
~The car looks both sporty and elegant, not all cars have that look...pretty cool.
~My 1999 model didn't have the heater/air conditioner in the back. Now, the kids don't complain that they can't feel the heat/breeze.
~Has a V6 engine and gives a smooth ride. You can go far on a gallon of gas, but it still has a powerful engine.
~The blue screen is really cool, it tells what's the temperature outside and inside.
~The driver's wheel has buttons, so you can still keep your hands on the wheel and turn on the radio or change the temperature.
~Has cloth seats, some people don't like that, but I do. It's not as easy to rip and when it a cold night, leather tends to be cold.
The car is really great! I would never trade it in!!! I don't know why other users don't like the Avalon. I once owned an Acura TL, but this car is almost the same (mostly just the leather seats and cloth seats). I'd recommend this car if you are looking for one!!!...read morehide

- low speed hesitation, noise of ABS self-checking
very disappointed by the quality of this car.
Low speed hesitation is not only problem of avalon but also camry V-6.
Toyota should do something about it.
IF they don't, we customers should do something for our right.
Buyers of camry and avalon should protest to the Toyota.
Toyota is not what they was any more !!!...read morehide

- Still looking for something good
- Rough ride, Irregular transmission shifting slips, bangs and jolts, poor air conditioning, poor design
I strongly recommend the purchase of something other than a Toyota.
Toyota even managed to loose the title for the gadget so I have to obtain a duplicate title at my expense. Should you really buy from Toyota?

- roomy interior, nice dashboard, good power and mileage
- knocking sound by ABS self test at start
Bought a new 2006 Toyota Avalon XL in Jan 06.
Overall I am quite happy with it. Ride is quite smooth and quiet, although not perfect (Toyota should work on lowering the wind noise, the fan noise, and the transmission auto shifting which could be better). Happy with the power and mileage.
One major issue I have, which Toyota has not addressed so far (6 months since I first reported it), is the knocking sound I hear for about 3 seconds when I first start the car and accelerate to about 5 miles/hr. It goes away in 3 seconds, and you don't hear it again during the drive. I was told by my Toyota service manager that this sound comes from the ABS self test at the start, and that there's nothing to worry about, it'll not malfunction. This noise is only on the XL models. On his advise I test drove three other 2006 XLs and heard this sound in each of them. I don't worry much about it, however the sound is not pleasing and several of my friends have noticed it and asked me about this. Just an irritant. Otherwise it is a great vehicle as previous owners of Avalon told me....read morehide

- OVerall quality and standard features.
- Cloth seats & suedo-chrome trim (covers) seem cheap. Unimpressed w A/C
I can tell this is a quality car, but we 'backed in' to owning it. Didn't get color we wanted. I prefer our Prius and old Camry. There is nothing exciting about the styling and gas mileage has been disappointing. The cloth seats for this entry-level Avalon feel cheap-can only hope it is a miracle fabric that proves to be durable, and it lacks storage bins for odds and ends. Love the sound system and 'driveability' when cornering etc....read morehide

- Power, ride and overall elegance
- Transmission shifts too much, handling
My wife loves the smoothness of the ride and I'm more than pleased with the power and fuel efficiency of the engine. I mean who knew you can get this much power and at the same time get 30 miles per gallon on regular fuel? The interior is very roomy and comfortable, and the car is beautiful. We travel a lot with our grandson and his swimteam and the roominess of the cargo area is just what we needed to carry our tent, chairs and luggage.
The day we bought this car, we left our home with the intention of buying a Nissan Morano. The Nissan dealer wanted his car more than I did so we stopped by the Toyota dealership on the way home and that's when everything changed. The Avalon is truely a great salesman.
My wife reminds me at least once a week we should send the Nissan saleman a thank you card and I agree....read morehide

- Really Comfy, Very Quiet Drive, Huge Car, Gives Airplane Like Experience
- GPS dosent come standard in the XL version out here in the Middle East, Finishing of the Car
I bought my XL about a week ago and the car is super quiet, the Standard JBL audio system is really wonderfull, i think people in the west are lucky to get a GPS system as standard equipment in the car coz i really wanted one
The car is V-E-R-Y roomy. the rear inclining seats is the icing to the cake, availibility of colours dissapointed me but the silver metallic will work just fine for me,
i thought the finishing of the car wuz not good coz the car body wash seal was stuck in the rear bumper and had to be removed in the first service. and an interior panel is not fitted properly on one of the rear armrests, the rear Parking sensors is something i cannot understands as it keeps beeping even if there is a whole field without obstacles.
Overall the is an AMAZING BUY, 100 times much better than the LEXUS ES 300 and the Mercedes KOMPRESSOR E 180 and higher models...read morehide
