2008 Toyota Avalon

- Nice, comfortable ride and the car feels and looks luxurious
- The wheels on my limited are very, very hard to clean like I want them cleaned.
My Limited is a terrific automobile and feels like and drives like a Lexus. Very roomy inside and the seats are very comfortable and have heat and A/C. Very nice in Texas Summers. Wish the side mirrors would fold in like on my Celica GTS. No excuse for that design not to be included. This Avalon is a dream to drive and we look forward to driving it alot....read morehide

- Spcaious and comfy, handles tight yet smooth ride, excellent
- front end subject to chips from road debre
I traded off my GMC Sierra due to the greedy OIL Companies. This car got 35.8 mpg on a 25mi road test. The 08 Avalon has plenty of head and leg room accompanied by loads of interior features and a great sounding JBL Synthesis sound system that automatically links to my cell after pairing.
Some complain of the 6 speed tranny. However, if they read the OWNERS MANUAL, they find that the shifting tranny is a break assist feature that can be over ridden by the operator to provide lessened shifting annoyance.
The front end design is visualy appealing but tends to get alot of road debris that chips the paint. Maybe Toyota could incorproate a more rubbery based paint less subceptible to chipping...?
I did not notice any wind or road noise during operation with all windows and the sun-roof closed. The wife loves the modern styling and the Cassis Pearls definately an eye catcher....read morehide

- Ugly Interior, Tranny Problems, poor economy!
I have been a life long GM owner, one of my golfer buddies told me to go try out a new Avalon as he is very happy with his 2004. I said I would even though I wouldn't get one prolly. Well try I did indeed the car I drove was loaded to the giles Limited model and try as I might to love it I still couldn't get over the fact the tranny was behaving very odd. Running the car to the redline and shifting then not at a normal 2-3K depending on acclerator pressure. I watched my economy while driving it the day to think on it. I was averaging very low teens and I thought that was odd for a Toyota no less. The interior with all the silver was yet another thing I still couldn't get over. The Avalon was over-all under-impressive. Then I went to my local Cadillac dealer and test drove a new DTS Platinum and feel in loved. I got a great deal on it almost 12K off but it still cost me an extra 15 grand or so than the Avalon I do not regret getting the Cadillac at all. Next to my 1972 white GTO sits my 2008 DTS Platinum in diamond white. Having owned this Caddy for 3 months it has been a great car and is much more comfortable and better looking than the Avalon. Plus it has a Northstar and I have averaged 17 or so in town not bad for 292hp!...read morehide

- EVERYTHING! This Car is a must for anyone LOTS of standard Stuff Not enough stars to value properly!
- In town MPGs a little too low for Toyota.
This baby is fully loaded with all the latest in technology. From rain sensing windshield wipers to Dynamic Laser Cruise Control which was my favorite option. Honestly I have to hand it to Toyota for making a full functional, ACURATE GPS Nav system. Even though I was completely aware of my surroundings and knew exactly where to go I tested the GPS to see if I liked it. I loved it, because I knew where to go. Elaborated as I knew the GPS was accurate because I knew the route, to test it even further I took a few random turns went down a few back roads and watched to see what happened next. So I said aloud, alright lady what do you have to say for directions now? She (the GPS) gave a quickly updated new route based on the direction of the car at all times. If the car veered off of its programed route, she would find you a new one. This means for me, that when infact I need this GPS system I can continue on course whether I stop for a frosty or to fuel up. Fueling up is a rarity in this car (considering its size and classifications) with an impressively efficient 3.5L V6 it achieves a stunning 28 MPGs on the highway and a mediocre 19 MPG in town. No worries, the Dynamic Laser Cruise Control will help you to IMPROVE you average MPGs. The safety behind my favorite option, Dynamic Laser Cruise Control is the lasers. Using laser technology Toyota has developed (not new to Mercedes-Benz) a cruise control system that will allow you to not just set your speed, why would you be that selfish? You can use one of 3 pre-set distances, and let the car do its thing. Meaning, that old lady in front thats going 10MPH UNDER the limit is no longer a stressful thing. Your Avalon Limited will brake AUTOMATICALLY to maintain your preset distance and resume speed once gramma is gone, or when you change lanes. Amazaing huh? I thought so too!!! This car was SPECTACULAR!!! In its design, its size (its huge but easy to drive and PARK!!! ALWAYS A PLUS!!!), its power/efficiency, its magnificent technology right down to the surround sound 12 speaker stereo (THATS MORE THAN MY HOME THEATRE!!!), even the way the seats can either cool your butt or heat it!!! The price??? MORE THAN REASONABLE!!! This FULLY loaded superior machine comfortabley parks itself at home for $38,870.00 and for those of you who take it month to month, try a $550/month payment with $2,000.00 down and decent credit!!! The model I drove was a gorgeous shade of silvery green, think its gross??? Take a gander!!! The leather, supple, soft, and its hugs you to PERFECT driver comfort, and the wood trims, unmatchable. I am really not kidding when I say (as a Mercedes-Benz LOVER!!!) this car hold a better value than the competitors in class Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and any other luxury car. Performance, the other companies have it made, Toyota holds its own, but not enough to beat the massive 600bHP S-Class. But in a buyers market based on value of what you have as a standard piece of equipment, the 2008 Toyota Avalon Limited has CERTAINLY won me over.
I will be taking this one home!!!...read morehide

- Roomy, luxury, good fuel economy,
- Nav. system could be improved - more user friendly
This is the 2nd Avalon we have purchased and I would purchase another one. Have heard all the complaints of others but have never experienced any of them. Dealership has been excellent. No issues or problems with the auto at all. I like the lines of the auto and enjoy the ride. Why buy a Lexus when you can have an Avalon !!!!!...read morehide

- Good looking car. Rides excellent..when it runs.
- After 2500 mile, blew engine due to faulty oil pressure guage.
You'd think that a car with a great reputation would last more than 2500 miles. Well, I guess there has to be a dud in everything and I got a $$33,000 dollar one. Yes, the engine was covered by the warrenty, but when I got it back, it just wasn't the same car. It didn't shift the same way or feel the same. Dealer told me I was just imagining it..it met all specs. Well, I know what I feel. Trading it in for another. Maybe an Acura...read morehide

- Luxury Ride, Plenty of Power, Quiet.
- Nav system is not intuitive big learning curve
Love the car. It replaces an Infiniti I35. Would have gotten the G35 but they shrunk it. The Avalon is perfect size with great back seat and trunk space. It has a powerful engine and soft quiet ride. It's definately a luxury car. Why in the world they can't find a easier to use Nav system I'll never know. My Garmin took 10 minutes to learn to use and it does more than this expensive one. I've got about three hours into the Nav system and just now can use the basic functions. Someone who has any trouble with technology will find it useless. The ability to downshift is very usefull in the mountains. She passes well with lots of power....read morehide

- Have only had the Avalon Ltd for 4 days but love what I have witnessed driving it alot of space
- none yet
Purchased a 07 xle toy camry april 07 and traded it in on the 08 avalon ltd. Camry too constrictive on space and blind spots with head rests. Also wave defects in windshield and brake light kept coming on at various times and dealership just kept topping off brake fluid and couldnt find any leaks? Go figure! Tired of spending time in service with the Camry.....Not sorry for the trade of it on the Avalon....read morehide
