I drive 70+ miles a day with stop and go and highway rush hour traffic so the car goes through it all. Overall I average 22,500 miles a year so gas economy was important. The MPG on the Camry Hyrbid is as advertised at 40.7 MPG overall (would probably be closer to 42 if I wasn't experimenting so much). The longer the trip the better the mileage. My guess is it takes a while for the battery to get going. Considering it's a 4 cylinder, the car has great pick up. Whines a little with hard acceleration but that's to be expected. Road noise is minimal. CVT works great. Regenerative brakes feel fine. It's not a sports car (nor is it meant to be) but all things considered it's not a boring ride.
I'm just shy of 6 foot and going from a mini van to a standard sized car so my view of room is jilted. Overall there's an understatement of class in the car with the stitched "leather" dashboard. The car boasts Pandora via bluetooth through your phone but it sounds horrible. I'm kicking myself for not getting the upgraded system. Navigation system is a little quirky but good overall. Has some trouble with music on my DroidX if I connect via USB cable for whatever reason. Plenty of memory settings. Touchscreen may be difficult if you have large hands. Bringing in car seats was simple with the LATCH system. Kids and parents have good amount of room.
My biggest complaint is the suede with leather trim seats. If you have kids (especially young ones with their snacks and juice boxes), they're worthless. We paid to get the seats replaced with all leather and they did a fabulous job. Well worth the money.
Overall this is a great commuter car if you are doing any significant daily driving. If you drive 10-15 minutes a day, I don't think you'll find much savings in gas unless you "warm up the car a bit".
If you are debating whether to get this or the gas 4 cylinder and looking strictly at $, don't.
