Through airport rentals, I tried out (test drove) just about every car you could think of - including the 2012 Camry LE. It was OK, something like taking your sister to the prom. I was holding out for a Ford Fusion hybrid (great specs.) by my ride died and I had to make do. I don't like driving in a Prius, the Civic didn't turn my crank - so I decided to take my sister to the prom and get the Camry LE - decent mileage, boring, reliable, good resale value bla bla bla. But, I just couldn't do it, so I upgraded to the 2012 XLE hybrid - no test drive - at least I'd be entertained. Now that I have driven 5000+ miles in 3 weeks in the XLE hybrid, I am very happy to report that I did not go on a date with my sister! This is an amazing vehicle! Other than looks, it is nothing like the LE gas version - this is a fun drive. If you are are shopping for a one-liner, for instance, gas mileage, buy the $23,000 Prius i.e. 50 mpg on the cheap. If you want a traditional sporty, well-engineered sedan, try a 30-45K Audi or a BMW. Want style? Buy a Porsche. But, if you want an enjoyable/fun, nice size interior, big-enough trunk, very good mileage, and an overall enjoyable driving experience, check this out. Mileage ranged from 37 to 43. Finally, now that I own the vehicle, beware of comments like numb steering. I like firm steering at highway speeds and this is great. For 30K, I got my money's worth and more - great purchase.
