- Responsive, nice appearance
- In-dash readouts biased for EPA, dealership gouging for beyond warranty service, tops shrink
A 2004 in the garage, looks very nice, and yet it is not the ideal car. It's close to very good. 40,000 miles. Factory tires about exhausted with tender driving, drivetrain is very much as the day purchased - good, responsive. Some body details are irksome. The juncture of dash to right windshield side post binds with an annoying squeak. The top underwent about a 1-1/2 inch shrink on the right side, with accompanying new wind noise. Dealer response - what do you expect? It's a convertible. The dealer, Thompson Toyota in Doylestown PA has a profit center rather than a service center. Terrible. "Mr. X, your car needs a recommended .... That'll be $450" "But Mr. Service, I reply - that's not in the service requiirements list." "Oh", they imply all customers are non-reading, non-motorhead housewives. And that is the only language they use to explain with. "I have a noisy tire, on it's way to imbalance", I report. "We only balance all four tires, not one - that'll be $60-." I resign myself to it, and find they have left the old adhesive from the weights on the classy wheels, and, they have added brown stains with some chemical. I report it. I find a screwdriver has made scrape marks on the old adhesive one one wheel; everything else ignored. "Free state inspection" they advertise. $50-emissions check!
In conclusion, nice car, maybe 28 mpg. Use Zaino to max the finish.
