I've owner this car since 70K, and now have 125K on odometer. I haven't had too many issues other than replacing the rear struts, which was a grand. Also rusted fuel cap which was $400. The motor and transmission seem to be rock solid, though my only major complaint is that the 4-cyl is underpowered, as in difficult to merge onto the highway. I consistantly get 33 MPG highway and 28 combined highway/city, which surprisingly is well above the EPA numbers. The interior is very good and of high quality, and the ride overall is soft and comfortable.
If buying, I would search out a V6. My friend has one and he claims to get in the 30's MPG highway. I think the extra power, safety-wise, is worth the 1-2 MPG drop over the 4-cyl. I would also not be to worried about high mileage, it can only help when negotiating the price. I have no doubt my car will head well into the 200's and even if I have a major repair it's still less than a $400/mo car payment on a 23K new one....read morehide1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- reliability, well-appointed interior, ac/heating, cd/tape/stereo exc., trunk/interior room
- Cons
- so-so handling, loose steering, front seat support, air/heating controls, "chrome" int. door handles

I've owned this car for seven years and it now has approximately 76,000 miles on it, roughly equivalent highway and city/suburban driving. It is by far the best overall vehicle I have owned; the best feature of the car is the great amount of interior room and cargo space; it easily accomodates 4 adults, and has a commodious trunk. This 2.4 l engine lacks the needed power to merge onto highways; however, in all other respects it is more than sufficient at driving speeds up to approximately 70 mph. Other than routine maintainance, my vehicle has required very little in the way of repairs, recalls, etc. This intermediate sized car gets approximately 25-28 mpg all around, and is an excellent all around vehicle. Watch for the inside door handles...they look to be chromium plated metal, but actually, are plastic coated with a metallic foil. This foil crinkled and tore after several years, and the rough edges were extremely sharp. The enamel paint has worn well after seven years of outdoor exposure...no rust and it has not faded. Another negative feature is the confusing multifunctional tripometer. Too much information. Be sure to get the cargo net for the trunk; it is useful for toting shopping bags, breakables....read morehide
