- Road performance is fine
- Noises, inaccurate speedometer
2006 Camry LE, 6 cylinder. 10,500 miles on it.
The car works fine on the road, but there are several problems and the dealer and Toyota have turned their backs on me. The speedometer is 5-6 miles per hour off. When it says 32 mph, the car is actually at 27 mph. The dealer's reaction? "It's within factory spec." Second, there are annoying creaks and ticks coming from the 2 front doors. On the driver's side it is right by my ear. The dealer did replace the weatherstripping, but the noise is still there, as aggravating as a mosquito buzzing in your ear. Now Toyota has decided nothing else can be done. Third, there is the creaking sound at the front end of the driver's door, and again, Toyota will do nothing. Fourth, there is an intermittent electrical buzzing coming from an area forward of the steering wheel, and since the dealer and Toyota cannot "duplicate" the sound, they will do nothing about it.
I'd like to enjoy the quietness and the performance of the rest of the car, but as it is, these noises - and the speedometer - make driving this car a really annoying experience. And Toyota's response has been less than helpful. This is the highest quality car on the planet???...read morehide

- Feels like a tin can, very basic car, horrible handling
DON'T BUY IT!!! You've read all the bad posting and they all say the same thing. It's cheap, with bad braking, handling, and plain interior. Forget what cosumer reports has said in the past. It's way overpriced.

THIS IS A REALLY GREAT DRIVING CAR. I HAVE THIS CAR TWO MONTHS. I FEEL VERY SAFE IN THIS CAR. I JUST CAME BACK FROM LONG DISTANCE TRIP, SIX HOUNDRED MILES ROUND TRIP. THIS IS THE SECOND CAMRY THAT I HAVE OWNED. I WOULD NOT DRIVE ANYTHING ELSE. THE POWER ON THE V6 IS GREAT. MY PRVIOUS CAMRY WAS A 4 CYLINDER....read morehide

- Great Visibility, smooth ride, agile, very good radio/cd sounds (standard)
- Not self cleaning. I must wash it. haha.
I purchased my V6 LE end of 05. I paid 19,250 after rebate of 750.00. AND got 0% financing. Saved $$ on Both ends! Instead of getting screwed, as in at the Ford place, can I say that? I just did.
It was EASY working with the Dealership I went to, and a simple process, they sales guy went over EVERYTHING about driving and the car, and I REALLY LOVED that.
This is my 3rd camry. Had an '87 4cyl. No problems. Sold it in 1 day.
The other was a v6 wagon, and now this one.
Have had New 06, for 3 months, about 4,000 miles. Absolutely NO PROBLEMS. Around town and freeway. Mileage is 20/22. I don't drive slow, I think/know that if you drive at 55-60 instead of 70 on freeway you will get better mileage, it's just not easy sometimes.
I would have been fine with another 4cylinder, better mpg. Husband 'made' me get v6. They weigh 175lbs. more or so than a 4 cyl. camrys. V6 feels heavier on the road, probably safer, but I like the lightness of the 4 cyl. I like both. Both are more than GOOD. If I actually had a choice, I would have driven both and paid close attention to the difference. I probably would have got a 4cyl., but as I say, I had no choice on that one.
The ultimate deciding factor, UNLESS you have to have the power of a V6, something to think about, is HOW MANY WILL BE RIDING MOST OF THE TIME? Maybe think about a V6 if you have lots of weight in the car, for any reason. Won't be so hard on the Engine. I suppose. And of course 4 cylinders are cheaper all the way around.
I had a price in mind, and this was it. I AM VERY SATISFIED with the camry V6 LE, The only thing I would have done different was I got phantom gray, with gray interior, same as my last 2, and oh yeah, I had a grey celica 4cyl. yrs. ago, but the sales guy told me 4K more for another color. I am wondering why now, I actually wanted the tan/taupe interior, and just about any other color than gray ex. But I got a totally reliable car, and I know it. That mattered more to me than the color. If I could have got different color for 2K more I would have went for it, didn't even ask.
Please have fun in your new toyotas, and PLEASE DON'T TAILGATE.
