- Quiet, good fuel economy
- so so build quality, under carriage rust
Purchased As New
Overall all a good car. Quiet, predictable, reliable. No major problems. But I can tell Toyota has lowered their build quality. Little things don't fit right. Already has rust underneath, and I wash it often during winter.

- I like the new body style
I took my car into a couple of dealerships in San Diego to have the acceleration looked checked. None of them could find anything wrong and told me it was normal. Then I tried Poway Toyota. They made an adjustment with the computer the controls the gas flow. It made all the difference. Now my car drives normal and I have not had any other issues....read morehide

- Fuel economy is good.
- Brake pedal is too firm--sometimes
The cars steering is terrible pulling hard left or right following the road grade excessively. When driving on our expressway and you let go of the wheel, the car would be off the road in approx. 200 ft. The steering catches ruts in the pavement pulling you into the next lane and even more so when braking. I've almost changed lanes when braking beside other vehicles. VERY DANGEROUS. The dealer has done two alignments and says that the car is normal....read morehide

- Looks good
- Hard ride, Uncomfortable seats, hesitation, underpowered
Completely junk. Hesitates when accelerates, seats are terrible the worst Camry ever and my last Toyota for sure.

- stylish and smart looking. New interior features are very useful like lighted mirror, extra compart
- engine hesitation and rough shifting
Glad to read others reporting same problem Had a solinoid replaced first then finally got the service bulletin to reprogram the shifting problem This helped but the car still acts underpowdered and shifts unlike any Toyota I ever owned. Still after dealer to make some adjustments to rectify this problem. After my fourth Toyota, I am not a happy buyer likely to buy another....read morehide

- Comfortable, better looking in and out
- badly built, poor interior finishing, a lot of defects
I have been driving toyota for almost 10 years without any major problem. It was time to change my old corolla and I decided to go with new camry. When I did the test drive, I was impressed with its comfort and driving. Off course, it was a big change after driving corolla for years.
I bought the camry 3 weeks ago. After a few days, I started to find defects. I list them as follows;
- Its heater knob is defective. It is turning itself continuously on/off driving me crazy. It does not go off.
- interior quality is very poor. All components are plastic and badly aligned. Cabinet on the dashboard does not close properly and it leaves a big gap between its door and dashboard.
- Its trunk does not close easily. I have to strongly slam it every time. I have recently noticed that it is touching the bumper and it also peeled its paint very badly.
- There was a scratch on the passenger seat and it will probably lead to tearing soon.
- There was also a scratch on the back bumper.
I would never expect this type of simple defects on a brand new toyota car, especially with its reputable model camry. People say build quality changes depending on where the car is manufactured. Especially in US and Canada, the day the car is manufactured also matters. Before you buy a car, search which day it is built. If it is Monday or Friday do not buy it. I wish I could give 5 stars to Camry. But all these defects turned me off from toyota. It is not going to surprise me if I see more defects. I think toyota is loosing its edge.
I have booked an appointment with toyota service to show the defects....read morehide

- Power for a 4 cyl; Looks
- Transmission it terrible
I have taken my car back to the dealer five times and their response is "that is the new mechicaism" regarding the trasnmission.
Hit the gas and the car does not move, Toyota knows about this and should do something about it.

- looks nice
- transmission is a joke.
There is a serious problem with the transmission on this car, which Toyota will not acknowledge. Problem is very distinct and extremely aggravating in 1st and 2nd gear, especially 1st. When coasting through a parking lot or slow traffic in 1st gear, between 1500 and 2200 rpm, the car has a SERIOUS lurching problem!!!! It actually feels as if you have tapped the gas very suddenly and firmly and then do the same to the brake. Lurching back and forth, back and forth. More frustrating is the fact that it does not do this consistently. Probably 80% of the time and to varying degrees....read morehide

- Bad fuel economy................
We had a Mercury Mystique 98 , when we started spending money on repairs, we exchanged it with a 2007 toyota camry LE 4 cyl. We were told that gas mileage was great 24/34. So far the most We got was 19/24 , we brought it to dealer to be checked, they can't find anything wrong with it. With mystique we were getting at least 21 in the city and sometimes 36-38 on the highway. We don't drive too much, it is not the money we spend on gas I am concerned, I just don't want to add pollution in the air.I called the factory too, they are going to check it again, if they can't find anything wrong I am planning to return the car, they are doing falsa advertising......read morehide

- looks good,sound system nice
- very poor gas milage,transmission shifts rough,seat hard,under power.
I purchased for gas milage but on a trip to florida it only got 27 mpg where in my olds I always got 35-36.mpg.The Camry is a 4 cylinder while the olds was a 6.very poor gas milage I have always got more mpg than sticker list but lots less with camry. It has no power to pass and transmission shifts down on the smallest hill ,even overpasses on level ground.I am sick I purchased the camry sure wish I would have got a Buick or Pontiac. If your on big hills it will shift down and motor rpm red lines which can harm engines.Speedometer is about 5% off which makes it look like your getting more mpg than you are.I have only had the car 3 months want to trafe it now....read morehide
