- Strong v6, good gas mileage, Solid Handling for size of car
- In order to keep prices down some cost cutting in Interior pieces.
I got it and I must say it is a fun car. I rented a Accord V6 for a week to see if I would love it. It is a beautifully made car, but a tad Monotonous. The Media always describes it as fun, the the Toyota as boring. The SE model I have does not pitch its front end of soft damping like the Accord does. The Accord is very front end heavy, and very long distances for hard braking. The Camry SE has firm damping, and good handling. The V6 is a hoot to drive. I had it a week and I averaged about 25mpg in my first tank (with 269hp!). Its still new...it can only go up. The DOHC dual VVTi V6 really makes the Honda SOHC J series V6 very dated. The Accord is a great car, but the Media just sells you a different image than the car has.My cousin has the old Camry and that too is a very boring car, however the refinement and quality is top notch. I test drove a manual V6 Accord to see if I would like that better ( I've always had manual transmissions) but it too seem a little out of place. I had a 1997 BMW 4 door M3 and I loved that car. I looked at the new 3 series and loved it, but being older and investing my money for rainy days, made me look at the Accord and Camry.
The new Camry is good and a great value with the V6. I recommend it for people wanting a good four door V6 at a good price with decent Braking and Handling. If you judge a car by a sound system, or if it has XM radio...well I don't know what to say. The new 6 speed Automatic shifts smooth. The Accord has a few more features, but I've always been a lover of great engineering. The V6, the transmission, the chassis, the braking. These thing are what is important to me. Not XM radio. If you are looking to buy an Accord V6 look at Honda's Excellent Acura TL (accord based), it has all the toys and 270 hp.
