- Poor fuel economy, poor interior, poor service
I bought this 2005 Corolla 1 year ago and it is a terrible regret. The car gets less than 24 miles per gallon and interior design feel cheap and very uncomfortable.
I expected to have an average of at least 30m/g which is on the car's specification 26-32 city, 35-41mi/gal highway. I drive very gentle. 60% of my commute is highway. a dozen visits/calls to the dealer but never get a solution to the problem. My 92 civic is getting 32mile/gal at its 140k mileage although the engine has a little leak.

- Good colors, compact, moves you to work
- MPG is low at 24 city/highway, Not very loaded, Seats hurt your back
The car is fair it lacks many features heated mirrors since Im always scrapping them in winter I find the paint scratches easy.My fuel is always bad avg 24 on 60%highway 40%city driving which is why I bought it for high fuel economey. The seats kill your back on long trips and the gaskets around the doors are cracked already and thus you hear noise. It also lacks side airbags to protect you as well. And forget trying to get leather seats also. Finally the rebates on the car are like $500 it should be more since the car lacks features I paid around 16K for it which is not cheap so I would look around at other cars.
P.S forget the dealer service at toyota a 15min oil change, I waited 5 hours the service bays and waiting rooms are packed to the rafters and the prices are high...read morehide

- Why buy a car because of the name and still feel miserable!
- Bad MPG-23MPG Is this a 6 cylinder. Outdated, rattles, bad paint, dents easy
This is my last Toyota because it did not deliver the right MPG as advertised. Is there a hidden 2 extra cylinders that Toyota not mention? Learn my lesson not to buy for the name only!

- Nice TV Ads, but falls short in actual performance!
- Lacks the long warranty for the customer's peace of mind!!!
I test drove the Toyota Corolla and seem weak in performance and styling is dull. Not bothered myself with Honda Civic with the strange shape and short in performance. Tried out the newly redesigned Mitsubishi Lancer and had a blast driving it around. Best of all I bought one with its 10 years/100,000 mile warranty!...read morehide

Toyota Corolla used to be not bad and cheap, but Ford and Chevy are back. Try the Ford Focus or the Chevy Cobalt or Aveo. They cost less and quality is much better, for you don't have to get mad at the shop for not fixing your car!

- Don't buy it and be smart to buy another brand of car!
- Engine noise, bad shifting transmission, wrong MPG, rattles, costly for its worth
Going on 12 months use of my Corolla and it appears, I've make a wrong decision to chose it for the following reasons; wrong advertised MPG, cannot get 38MPG, only 31, rattles now everywhere, too much engine noise that is hard to have a conversation in the cabin, airconditioning is not cold.

- Quality is going down and the car isn't doing any better!
- Bad MPG, Rattles, Weak Engine, Hard seats, Dents very easily, Road noise
To tell you the truth, the Corolla is just like any other car on the markey, but cost more because of its name, which today doesn't mean a thing. It is better to shop around for a good deal rather than negotiate with Toyotas dealer and end up going for their price!

- The style is boring, and performance dull!
- Not a good car to own!
The Toyota Corolla is not the better cars to buy for its boring style and dull performance, besides it is costly for its worth. Look for something else with new styling and best warranty out of Japan!

- The name
- fuel mpg ratings way overstated, pricey, many others see below
my corolla has about 6000 miles on it. we traded our old 92 camry in for it. I have to say toyota's reliability is still there(so far) but there cars' quality have gone down tremendously.
CONS- Im of average size and build with the majority of american males (5'10) and I find the front seat extemely akward. I either have to pull the seat close where my knees are in the dash to reach the steering wheel, or have the seat back where im traditional comfortable and have to bend forward to reach the steering wheel, causing back pain. You cant reach the radio either which is more of a nuisance but still major design flaw. The MPG ratings way off base. They advertise 31 city and 39 highway, but so far i havent even gotten close. The majority of my commute is highway and I get about 32. When i took the test drive at the dealership i noticed that the engine was really loud, but lacked power, and i was okay making the sacrifice for the 40 mpg numbers. But not for what im getting, id rather have my old camry back which got 32 with a V6. Also the gas pedal is really high and touchy to immitate peppyness but is really annoying trying to get used to. Interior carpet has appeareace of almost fleece like quality, which i thought was nice, but it is extremely difficult to keep clean, it traps as the little dust particles and little hairs and stuff so car doesnt even look new inside anymore. takes me like an hour to vaccum. Also the backlit gauges are a novelty at first, but even dimmed there really bright at night and are a huge distraction.
PROS-The name, which i paid highly for, stops on a dime and is extremely easy to handle. Most people say it drives like a go cart, it just go's where you want it too. radio is good for lower model car. looks sharp.
In summary id have to say im still satisfiyed with toyota's reliability but alot of people not just me complain of quality issues, nothing seperates them from there american counterparts anymore, so buy a car you like, not toyota because you think its practical. The market is apples to oranges anymore. I just bought my wife a mazda 6 and im thinking about trading this one in for one too. before toyotas resale values deflate....read morehide
