2007 Toyota Corolla User Reviews
- $6,956 - $7,563

- Toyota reliability (hopefully-we'll see?)
- I am averaging only 29mpg with highway commutes, uncomfortable front seats, noisy engine/gear whine
I was excited to buy my first Toyota. The test-drive went fine, but then I took it home and started noticing problems that are more annoyances than anything.
As others have stated, the front seats are very uncomfortable. The lumbar support does not match up with my back, so I have to recline my seat to compensate so I am not hunched forward. Annoying.
The engine/transmission makes a high pitched whine at 29 miles per hour and around 50 miles per hour when giving it a slight amount of gas. Two Toyota service departments have told me this is entirely normal, and I test drove another new '07 Corolla and found the same problem. Solution: turn the radio up. Annoying.
The advertised 41mpg highway is a complete exaggeration. I never run my air conditioning, commute 30 miles round trip on the highway, and routinely get 350-380 miles out of the tank. Since it has a 13 gallon tank, I am averaging only 29 miles per gallon. Annoying and unacceptable for the hype surrounding this car and its supposed great gas mileage.
I hope this car is as reliable as everyone claims, but it certainly has not lived up to the hype so far.
