2008 Toyota Corolla User Reviews
S 5-Spd MT shown
- $7,571 - $8,535
- Fuel economy, looks
- uncomfy drivers' seat & steering wheel position, rides rough with the a/c on, no standard side a/b
This is a nice looking car and it has great fuel ecoomy, no doubt. Inside the car is nice, with many compartments for storage. The car rides somoothly and handles well and has more "pickup" that I expected. It can be a little loud while driving on the highway but not enough to be bothersome.
However, my Carolla runs so roughly with the a/c on more than "low" though that I usually end up rolling down the windows. Also, the steering wheel should be able to adjust higher and is very akward and uncomfortable. I have about an hour commute each way to work and I hope that I am not regretting this car. Also, and this is also a small, nit-picky thing but I wish I could adjust the interval of the windshield wipers but I can't. Also, I wish the side airbags wiould have been standard. I still like the car but my advice would be to rent this car before you buy so you have sufficient time to tell if you will be comfortable in it....read morehide

- No trim specified for this review
- the car felt cheap, it had no "pick-up", it was not attractive, priced too high for the quality
I was very disappointed when I test drove the 2008 Corolla. This was the worst car I had driven....new or used. For a small car, it should get better gas-mileage. The backseat was small and uncomfortable. The driver's space was very small. It was overpriced. The engine was extremely wimpy. The paint/trim style was ugly. It looked very low class. The warranty stinks. Overall.....very disappointing for Toyota. I expected better....read morehide

- Good Gas MPG but boring looking, it blends in with all of the other boring cars Toyota makes....
- Steering wheels vibrates from the engine idle. Does not accelerate well with the A/C on.
Fit and finish is poor compared to other cars I looked at, even worse than the Hyundai. Interior styling is just as boring as the exterior. Little to NO acceleration at all. The only reason I bought the car is I was over on the mileage on my currrent Toyota lease and they told me that they could forgive the mileage charge if I bought another car from them. This car is a poor excuse for style, speed, comfort and overall just boring. I should have taken my lumps and paid the $1200 in mileage fees on my Tacoma and bought the Mazda 3! The Mazda is 10 times the car the Corolla is. I know it was more money but it was well worth it. I tried to trade in my Corolla three days after I bought it and I was $8000 upside down. If you think Toyota holds it's value well think again....... If I had it all to do over again the Mazda was the best small car by far out of the bunch!!!!...read morehide

- last long
- MPG 24/32 ,not their lies 32/38,road and engine noise, not enough power
Toyota is not telling the real MPG 24/32 Auto transmission.
Engine and road noise, not enough power for the weight of this car.
Stering wheel is too far, chair is unconfortable. Poor visibility.

- Good fuel economy. Thanks for the effort on the fake wood panel.
- The ride's too rough, poor turns, no upgrades from the 2007
Poor Handling-For a sedan it could have definately been better at making turns. The engine is a little loud, a slight acceleration is jerky, loud on rough roads, and the car backs SIGNIFICANTLY on a slight incline. Paid too much for too little upgrades. Soo much space in the trunk too little space up front. Ohh and what's with the awkward placement of the front cup holders and poor knee room?!! I practically have to look and twist my elbow to get my drink!...read morehide

- fuel economy
- poor ride, handling and overall comfort
waste of time to buy this car. rode noise is absurd! you probably can't find another car on the market made from cheaper materials. the sheet metal used on the corolla has to be thinner than anything made today. the handling (if you can call it that) is basically non existent. car is completely uncomfortable to drive unless you are a very small person. the 10 minutes or so you're in the drivers seat at the dealer isn't enough time to know just how uncomfortable this vehicle is. once you drive this car for 30 minutes or longer you'll wish you had purchased something else....read morehide

- decent price, decent fuel economy
- very, very rough ride, horrible road noise, total lack of power and poor transmission!
always heard about toyotas quality, was this a myth or media hype or has it just disappeared? this car is designed for people below 5 foot tall! its the most uncomfortable car i've ever driven. its a pain to drive over 2 miles in this can. if you manage to drive it farther then you'll go deaf from the road noise. you'll need to buy an audio system thats worth more than the car to block out rough noise! fuel economy is decent but not quite was is advertised. i had heard that toyota had no idea how to build a transmission and now i'm a believer. the transmission hasn't died yet but its shifts very poorly. i've recently test driven a few other cars i'll soon be trading this one in on a cobalt or mazda 3....read morehide

- Acceptable mpg, period.
- The price is too too much for a slightly above average car...
It's just acceptable... But keep in mind, I have an old nissan Pathfinder 93' prior to owning this car. I owned it no more than a month and I found I have already holding some grudges against it (current odo reads 700 mi).
The fuel economy is definitely higher but just barely acceptable (after all I am comparing this new model to my old nissan.)
I shove out so much (not to mention the premium of auto-insurance got skyrocket!!!) and the only Pros worth mentioned is the better mpg... My old nissan PF was out of alignment, thus must hold tight on the steering all the time! This new car however gets my nerve as I have to do the same thing and barely have the chance to relax.. you know driving with single arm . The service guy said it's just caused by the uneven slope of the road or perhaps the tire, just check it myself... Fine, whatever!
There's nothing really impressed me compared to older model of corollas... Last thing, the trunk has bigger space... but it sacrifices the back seat, there's no way to fit taller persons in the car. Including interest rates, I spent about $28k + on this car... My conclusion: DON'T LOOK AT IT TWICE; it's just a decent car with a brand....read morehide

- looks good, toyota sales hip is very good, but not a word of truth in it.
- Road noise, engine noise, seats are awfull quality of materials very poor
2007 COROLLA CE now has 4500 miles on it. average mpg 26/ 32. I am 66years old so it is not abused. Local deaalers still advertising 41 mpg, don't fall for that. The 126HP is so week I have to turn off the A/C GOING UP HILLS AND PASSING. My dealer Bill Penny Toyota in
Huntsville,Ala . told me "well so of them get good milage and some of don't. Nothing he can do. Tires are out of balance and they did try
but could not fix the problem. Service guy said I had a bad tire ??
take to goodyear, goodyear said nothing wrong with the tires ??
So much for famous Toyota Warrenty and service. I had ford that had 12,000 on it no problems and the only problem I had was fixe the first time and fixed right, they replaced the tires at 3,000 miles.
Now that is quality. I think consumer union car test people are on toyota's payroll. THEY SAID THIS CAR HAS A QUITE CABIN. Man that
tester must have had his radio on rap music turned up as lout as it could go ??? If this is car is what toyota calls quality then beware of
all the cars they build. Not very good car comfort and road and engin noise and poor gas milage that is what you get and you paky $2500.00 more than the other cars in this class....read morehide

- maybe good fuel economy?
- ride is harsh, crude, ergonomically it is a failure
The most uncomfortable seats in the industry, I drove 60 miles and ended up with orthopedic surgent due to back pain.and leg cramps .
The car is loud, lots of noise, very loud engine, its noise drowns out the radio.
Again: this car, in addition to the above , is ergonomicaly a total failure.
