- fuel economy, rather quiet in the city
- very uncomfortable, cramped
I took this car for a test drive a couple of weeks ago. I found quieter than the honda civic but was it more uncomfortable. I'm about 6 foot 2 and I couldn't find a comfortable driving position, I put the seat as far back as I could and my legs were still cramped, I did have enough head room but I had never found a car where didn't have enough leg room in the drivers seat. I wish toyota had put longer seat tracks on this car because then i'd probably find a proper driving position for myself in the car, but I guess i'll just have to choose the honda civic because I fit in that car. And I also find the civic far more attractive....read morehide

- Mileage, soft seats but they lack side support
- short warranty, rental car plain styling, no cruise, steering/handling, sea of gray interior, power
Arrived in Orlando and needed a rental car for a business trip. They gave me this 09 Corolla LE automatic in gray on gray. It drives well enough around town with it's loose steering and soft ride. The seats are soft and fairly comfortable but lack side support on long drives. The interior was a dull sea of gray which I find boring but at least it seemed better put together than a 08 Yaris that I drove a month prior to this car. The dash is at least located where it's supposed to be unlike the Yaris which puts the instruments over in the center leaving a large hunk of plastic facing the driver. The mileage was good but the 1.8 liter engine lacks punch and note that Toyota still uses an old fashioned 4 speed automatic with this car. My biggest concern with this car, also with the Yaris, is the poor high speed instability in cross wind. The limp steering and mushy handling do not inspire confidence and the lack of cruise control in a 17K car is lamentable. Overall I liked it better than the aweful Yaris because of it's better designed interior and larger size and the fuel mileage was similar but even still this car screams rental car with it's dull plain exterior styling, sea of gray interior, dull pickup and wishy washy handling....read morehide

- Good Fuel and thats all
- Ride is smooth
I bought this car a month ago and i love the gas mileage it gives 26.44 MPG average, compre to a van i used to drive which was 16 MPG
I also have 2005 Camry which is worth what i paid for, comapre to corolla. Inside dash looks good but the plastic is very cheap.
Price is a lot more compare to the quality, but its Toyota thats why people buy it.
I would suggest Nissan Sentra would be a better buy, but by the time i realised it, it was too late. The payemts would have been $50 less than corolla....Bad thing about Sentra is they dont have power mirrios on their base model. Gas mileage is 25 MPG comapre to corolla 27 MPG.
If you are looking for future, Corolla will have good resale value comapre to any small cars and its more mileage...Good Luck....read morehide

- Good fuel economy, comes with side air bags which is safer for everyone, more leg room
- Brakes makes noise
The car has a nice body style, better suspension, the sound system is better, the car has a lot of different options in it, there is a lot of storage places to put things in the car, and it drives much smoother.

- Avg city/hwy fuel economy. 25.7 mpg
- Unstable Electric Power Steering
Disappointed with the way the vehicle drives. Electric powering steering is unstable and wanders off the road.

- Gas mileage, good in snow, comfortable seats, rides fairly quiet
- Bland style, no exterior rub strips, pricey, no 5 or 6 speed automatic, cruise should be std
Toyota really could have done a better job on exterior styling because it just looks like a plainer version of last years model with the now done to death Camry, Yaris, Matrix grille. The 1.8 liter engine and old 4 speed automatic get the job done but forget about top notch power or technology. The interior looks slightly different but equally dull and unexciting. I also am surprised that cruise control and a cigarette lighter aren't included in the very pricey $17310 base price and it still uses plastic hubcaps whereas the Hyundai cars use alloy wheels in there upper tier versions. On the bright side gas mileage is pretty good and the car goes through the snow well. It is also pretty comfortable and easy to drive at lower speed. On the highway it gets tossed around in high wings easily and watch those corners because handling is not this cars forte....read morehide
