- Great gas mileage
- Toyota dependability
Purchased As New
I was very excited about my new Corolla. Good basic transportation and great gas mileage. But after two years of normal driving, I started having problems with the transmission and told I need a new clutch.
Having driven manual transmissions for over 20 years and accustomed to getting over 100,000 miles on a clutch, (never have had a clutch fail on me in the past) I was shocked when I started having problems at 36,000 miles. I contacted Toyota Customer Service with my concern and while I did not expect them to fix it for free, I honestly thought that Toyota would stand behind their reputation for quality and work out some sort of compromise. Instead, I was ignored for several days and finally told that there was nothing they were willing to do to help, but they would be glad to do the repair for $1,900.
So much for Toyota dependability and customer service. I would suggest buying a Honda, I miss my old Civic more than ever.
