- Unbelievable MPG
- Interior lacking driver accessability
Purchased As Used
Driving the car on backwoods cow trails I am getting 35 mpg. Great 4cyl engine, very quiet, smooth. No problem on the open highway with staying in my lane even at 70-75mph. I have driven some newer Dodge Avengers and Ford Fusions both were very noisy and shaky cars, I don't get that feeling at all driving this toy. Not the "grandma looking" car that the corolla used to be.
Lots of interior room, for a compact car, but lacking easy access for the driver. You really have to take your eyes away from the road to change the radio (although this does have steeringwheel controls), or turn on reading lights. The clock is very small and hidden under the tachometer. I just wonder what the automatic 5-speed would be like on the highway....read morehide

- Good fuel economy, passenger room and trunk is large
- Wanders at highway speeds, slightly underpowered
Rented the Corolla and drove it a little less than 400 miles, on a recent weekend trip. I thought the car was nice looking and comfortable inside, but when I got on the expressway after leaving the airport I was really unnerved because the car has a tendency to wander side to side a bit. It takes a good bit of attention to stay in your lane. The other thing I felt was that the Corolla seems a bit underpowered.
Maybe my expectations were too high because I always hear how great Toyotas are, but having driven quite a few other makes and models to me the Corolla is pretty average, and nothing special.
On the plus side though, the fuel economy was very good....read morehide

- Looks good, smooth ride, should have kept clock and temp separate like the previous generations
- brake dust galore, same as previous generations, cheap plastic interior but i can live with it.
I love this car, very quiet ride and already comes with audio controls on the steering wheel.
The 09 corolla drives and rides very smooth like a Lexus. Engine is very quiet compared to our 03 corolla.
Hoping to keep this forever with todays gas prices.

- Loooks great; good gas mileage if you don't puch it.
- Bad suspension, Whiny power steering, clearcoat blistering on certain spots
We have had this vehicle for a month now and it has been in the shop over a week. Took it in for rattle, creky noise from the undercarriage...turns out it was the suspension. It also developed a whiny power steering. So, the struts and towers for them were replaced as well as the steering column. This did not fix the problem with the steering wheel...so they had their regional tech engineers try to fix the problem and he had a computer module that regulates the steering with the speed and this didn't work either...we were told that this engineer fixed a few other thing and that the steering wheel was fixed but while the vehicle was still there a new problem arose with a brushing sound from the engine and that the engineer couldn't fix that one...so we were reccomended to take it back to the dealership before we contacted an attorney. We are very surprised that this happened but I guess since it has been redesigned that the bugs haven't been all worked out yet. Probably going to upgrade to a camry eventhough the gas mileage isn't as great....read morehide
