This was our third Corolla after previously owning a 2002 and 2006. Saw 'the' recall on the news THE EVENING we brought it home! Noticed interior rattles after the first month. Replaced the engine computer at 15000 kms. Cheap tires had to be replaced prematurely. Incredulously, transmission was replaced at 50,000 kms and feels like somethings not right again at 74,000kms. Brakes have been problematic as well. The stories about wandering steering are true...almost to the point of being dangerous.
It's the little things too. Ultra cheap seat fabric picks up EVERYTHING that touches it. The clock is in the most ridiculously placed spot it could be - at knee level BEHIND the gear shift. Even if you take your eyes off the road, your eyes can't adjust from the sun to see the darker clock display in time to read it. Road noise is atrocious. The stereo is a definite downgrade from previous models.
We took out a Kia Soul a couple of weeks ago and it was SO much better in every regard INCLUDING a five year warranty! Until Toyota shows us it cares about it's costumers, we will not even bother looking at them again.
