My brother and sister own this car and I used to drive their cars a few times, but comparing to my 2012 Honda Civic even though the Civic rated poorly by Consumer report, I would still choose the Civic over the Corolla.

With low expectations I rented a 2013 Corolla LE and was pleasantly surprised to find the seats were reasonably comfortable, the ride smooth and quiet, the dash controls simple and easy to use and everything about the car was pleasant. The transmission, while only 4 speeds, seemed precisely calibrated to work well with the engine and overall fuel economy was around 34-35 MPG (far better than the 28-29 MPG I would get when renting Chevy Malibu's or Chevy Cruze's)...read morehide

This is my 3rd Toyota Corolla since 1993. I am 72 years old and If this one is as good as the others it will be the last car I will own in my lifetime.

Was this review helpful to you?
- Pros
- Great fuel economy, comfortable drivers seat, fun convenience features
- Cons
- Needs lumbar support on drivers seat, tight steering
Purchased As New
Steering is tight and fatigues my hands on long trips because of carpal tunnel. Fun to drive, manual trasmission gives a little more umph at take off. Automatic lacked in power. Great car for a budget conscious driver looking for basic transport that is comfortable and easy on the wallet.

Why does nothing on Yahoo work as it is designed to. I'm sure this one will not work either.

- Pros
- Quality of everything
- Cons
- Power Assist Steering to firm at high speeds

I really like this car. It's cabin is very fancy, contrary to what the reviews say. The features for the S version are top tier and this does not feel like an economy car at all. Overall, the quality is A++ and this is why I chose Toyota. I find the speed to be plenty...even for highway maneuvering. It's not a sports car, so why in the world do the reviewers expect it to be I don't know.
I average 29 mpg combined for city and highway.
The only thing I do not like is the Power Assist Steering firmness. When I am driving fast, like 80 mpg the steering wheel gets very firm/tight. I hate that. Others like it...but to me it creates fatigue on road trips and I like the feel of normal non firm steering.
I love how it looks like a sporty Camry.
The seats are nice. I wish the lumbar had an adjustment for it but I will live.
Unlike other cars in this class, I don't have to worry about things breaking on the car as it gets old because it's a Toyota. Coming from a Volvo, I never want a car that breaks down ever again. Lamest feeling in the world....read morehide10 out of 12 people found this review helpful.
