Purchased As Used
I live in Canada and have spent a year test driving different vehicles in anticipation of a purchase. Was not in need or in a hurry for a purchase I took my time. I had initially discredited the corolla because of the automatic transmission. There are many many bad things said about the corolla and I was nearly suckered into it. I have liked the looks of the corolla and the S model is by far the best looking one. Other cars I test drove have hard plastic inside as well, Focus has hard door panels, Cruze has hard door panels and dash (ofset by fabric on the dash), Nissan, Jetta, Lancer have hard plastics aswell. Sentra has 130hp, base Jetta has 115hp. All the competition are good but after a year of test drives I was not smitten by anyone in particular. I noticed a New/Used Corolla S (only 5600 kms) and it had the one thing I wanted which was a manual transmission. Now that I have had it for a month this is what I can say. Impressed with fuel economy, looks good, interior is simple and straight forward, has a few amenities I like and some I don't need (push button start for one I don't need), interior space is good, ride is good, reliability is expected to be top notch. I got a it for a good price and I for one don't have any issues with the engine. I'm not a speed demon so I don't need lots of horses under the hood. I could go on an on but I don't have the space.
