I've been using this car for 10 years and it has tolerated every piece of abuse that it's been put through and there's never been a need to replace anything mechanical. It's missed oil changes by weeks (sometimes months) and it still keeps on going, this car has the best mechanical tolerances I've ever seen. I get anywhere from 35-45 MPG depending on the circumstances (it's a bit picky about the outside temperature and prefers warm days). Driving long distances is easy when you don't have to worry about fuel stops (although the cramped quarters makes it a lot more annoying). I've gone from Detroit to San Antonio and from Detroit to New York in this and it was not that expensive when compared to the gas money I'd spend with most other cars available at the time (now we have hybrids that proudly claim 70 MPG). I've even taken it to camping trips and it will tolerate the bad terrain...to a point (I've had to push it out a couple of times because it got stuck in some sand due to the standard low ground clearance most small cars give you). The only major problems with this car that I've found are: the driver's side door lock sticks, the gas pedal wasn't as responsive as it should have been (this fixed its-self), and that it has a few electronic glitches; the CD player will overheat (from purchase), the alternator has been replaced twice (in 2008), and the connections to the headlights have shorted (in 2010).
