- Right size, smooth & powerful ride, feels like a Lexus
- Seat fabric is weird, interior ergonomics not as nice as a Honda
Just bought a 2005 Highlander V6 4x2 with 3rd row seat demo model with 3000 miles on it. Paid 23.5K + tax, title, reg. A new 2006 can be had for $24.6 + tax, title, reg right now - this is Carsdirect price and you should not pay more than this.
I wanted an SUV for my wife and 2 kids which was small enough for errands around town, but powerful and comfortable enough for long distance trips from NJ to DC etc. The Highlander fits the bill perfectly. The size is just right, and the car feels very plush and smooth...very refined ride. Feels solid too, woithout feeling overly heavy. Feels pretty nimble actually. Accelerates very well and takes climbs with no effort.
The one complaint I have is that the seat fabric feels like a plastic tablecloth. Also the interior on my 2004 Odyssey van is much more to my liking.
A great buy overall though. My wife likes it a lot and when I first drove it home yesterday, my 4 year old said "wow....what kind of awesome car is that !!" I did not know he knew those words.
