- comfortable, reliable, great for around town driving and longer road trips
- Fuel economy 3-4 mpg less than advertised, body styling somewhat 'van like'
Purchased As Used
Bought a used Highlander as I needed something that could handle snow and ice better than previous sedan. Overall the Highlander fits the bill as a reliable car for transporting kids to school, soccer, and music lessons as well as a great back and forth to work vehicle. It is not, however, an off-road vehicle. The ride is generally smooth but there's significant road noise at top speed. It's a little jerky pulling away from stops and in heavy snow and ice it feels a little unstable. Overall it's a great little SUV with lots of upside, just know its limitations....read morehide

- excellant gas millege, quility finish, great viewing ability for driver
- need more powerful engine to compare with others
Made in Japan is the quility and reliable garantee, good fuel economy, smooth ride and great viewing ability for the driver, the only complain I have is a little bit under power for its size

- SMOOTH RIDE, GREAT HANDLING, GREAT IN SNOW AND STOPS ON A DIME
- REAR WINDOW WIND THROBS WHEN OPENED, GAS MILEAGE
I LOVE MY HIGHLANDER. I WAS ONE OF THE FIRST TO BUY THIS CAR IN 2001. I HAVE NOT HAD A SINGLE PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. HAVE
52,000 MILES. I HAVE A 4X4 AND THE PICK UP IS GREAT. JUST THE GAS MILEAGE COULD BE BETTER WHICH I HEAR TODAY IS. IF MY HUSBAND WOULD AGREE I WOULD BUY A NEW ONE TOMORROW.

- smooth ride, seems well manufactured, reasonable snow traction
- gas mileage, transmission shift delay, short steering column, weak brakes
Overall, I'm disappointed with my Highlander. It has the common Highlander accleration delay problem where the transmission downshifts slowly making emergency passing a hair raising event. Gas mileage is about 3 mpg less than EPA for both city and highway driving, even when driven very carefully. I'm 6 feet tall and the distance to the steering wheel is much too far, the car is made for people with shorter legs. Brakes are underpowered for the weight of the car. The dealer knows of these problems, as does Toyota, but their position is that it's 'as designed'. Of course, these design flaws are not at all revealed in the selling process. Buyer beware....read morehide

- Comfort, power, fuel economie, reliability
- agility, looks, interior fit and finish
Brought this car for about $44,000 cdn and was generally happy with the product. The car is big and roomy with plenty of power. Gas milage is good for such a big truck. Ride is very plush but the turning circle is large. Interior fit and finish is below average like that of some American cars.
I would buy this car again if there was a 15% discount off the listed price.
However, I still like driving this truck as compared to my 04 Mazda 3....read morehide

- Simple, good, clear, 99% functioning all, smooth, not noising
- 3.3 v-6 engine, would be better to have 3.5 size! On 3.5 it would be the best car. Need stronger eng
reliable. convinient, it is not big huge, but also is not small size SUV! Optimum size! 4Runner is too heavy and big, Honda Pilot also too wide, but highlander is perfect size car! I like it.
The only my sorry is the engine is little bit smaill size 3.3 size for v-6 in place of 3.5 (not bigger!) would be perfect!...read morehide

- Smooth ride and the 4x4 went well through the snow.
- The front seat is about 3 inches shorter that other SUV's. Very unconfortable!
The third row seat is a waste. It's too small for a 10 year old. This seat takes up too much room in the cabin making the front drivers seat very small. If you wear a winter coat the seat becomes even smaller. If you want comfort go to another car.
