- GAs Tank Problem
- I had a problem with this vehicle and the problem is the gas Tank is made of plastic.
I had a problem with this vehicle and the problem is the gas Tank is made of plastic and it needs to be covered with the metal plate below the tank facing to ground. I see it is covered only 3/4th of the tank and remaining is exposing to Road.
On September 15th I took my daugther for an appointment and while driving back on highway it went over a metal piece which is invisible and it tear the gas tank on the edge which is exposed to ground without metal covered. I took to the dealer and dealers are saying that this is how it is manufactured and i told them it is dangerous and it would cause the car damage and even life's would have gone if there was any spark. The gas was full in the tank and i could not realise because it is highway and by the time i took the exit and i was honked by the remaining traffic who took the exit and told me that gas is leaking from the tank below. So i pulled over and got it towed but they are saying i need to pay from my pocket or insurance.
They are not agreeing that this is defect in manufacturing. If any one have the same vehicle please check their Gas tank below and we can make sure Toyota take some action on this....read morehide

- Well Build, Smooth Ride, Firm, Reliability
- its uncomfortable for the first week for a person for the first time with dirve by wire throttle
I have 06 Highlander. Excellent car based SUV. Smooth ride and drive. Well Build. The only uncomfortable is the new drive by wire throttle. Instead of the cable, the throttle uses electronic signals. The first few hundred mile will be time for training. Drove other vechicles in this class (Pilot, Murano etc). HL standsout from others....read morehide

- Dependable, fun to drive, roomy,
- it makes a clicking noise that I have not been able to locate???
I have a 2001 Highlander and I still love my car. I find it roomier than most cars I've been in. It's my first SUV an dI don't see me ever going back to driving a car again.
It's taken a bit of a beating with scratches,2 replaced windshields (not from defects)and a dent from a snow plow. Part of me would love a new car but, I still really enjoy driving it and I drive it on vacations so, it's been really a great car to own for me. I think I will stick with Toyota when I do decide to trade it in.
Mechanically, all I've needed so far was a fuel injector just when I had the car for 5 years. Of course I needed brakes, tires, etc but no repairs....read morehide
