2007 Toyota Highlander
There are 6 user reviews for the V6 4X4 with 3rd Row Seat trim shown below
- Ride is smooth, handles like a car and the mpg are better than any GM or Ford in the same group.
- Styling is a little lack luster, but other than that it is a great family car. We love it.
Purchased As Used
I have driven American made cars all of my life and I have been disappointed with them for the same amount of time. I started to gain trust for them just for a brief moment when I purchased an 03 Alero. Electrical problems, suspension issues as soon as the car reached 55000 miles it became a rolling or sometimes not pile of junk. Quality always before quantity, over payed workers lead to a low quality car. The japanese know the formula, it is no longer going to be easy for you, the US auto worker. Shut the unions down and go back to the basics....read morehide

- Room and comfort Stereo thumps
- Rear window noise is horrible
As someone else mentioned the rear windows, Oh my G&D are they loud. You would think you were in a wind tunnel with elephant ears eating tortilla chips and there was person slapping your ears. LOUD
We actually get ok gas milage (when I drive) between 18 and 23. It is a v6 and were people thinking it would get 35? Der. Go buy a Hybrid and then really complain. I bought it knowing the gas milage and what to expect.
The handling is outstanding. I have had many 2x4 and 4x4 vehichles, the overall slip and slide is virtually none.
Had an oil change that basically cost $35 due to the maintenance that was purchased @ signing. All fluids, tires, quick cleaning were taken care of.
I agree the interior is brutal to keep clean. Leather would have been nice, wow what a mark-up.
If you complain that much about your H, go buy a KIA.
Would get an 08 but still paying this one off.
p.s. We Love Scottie....read morehide

- perfect size
- auto trans not smooth
I'm surprised at all the negative reviews here. I just traded in an '03 HL after 4 years trouble free years. I waited for the 08 Highlander to come out but I don't like the bloated size and increase in cost amoung other things. So I bought a 07 HL at a good price and am very happy. This a good tow vehicle if you need it, rated at 5000lbs. I am pleased with the upgraded air bags on the side and the skid control.
I had to take the third row seat because it was all the dealer had. It is a total waste of space and I probably will never use it. The gas mileage could be better. The auto transmission seems to shift too often.
The 07 HL will satisfy our needs, too bad Toyota ruined the new 08 model, it will be our last HL....read morehide

- don't know if theres enough good to put here
- brakes, susepnsion, the lousy dealership i went to and they're refusal to more or less do any thing
i've had a my seacond 2006 highlander for about a year now. ( long story in voloving dealership refusal on the lemon law which the first highlander also a 2006 was and this one isn't turning out much better.) all i can say is its an okay vehical but has major mechanical problems and is just very disappointing. i bought the car to have a nice safe reliable vehical but i have been proven wrong and now wish i had look else where to begin with. like i said about the breaks, i try to stop at a low ie 20mph and it takes a quite a bit more disatance and time to stop then it really should. dealership says the breaks are fine (doubt they even check). dealership has refused to do any thing about it or when i said the ride has gotten suprisely rough now too they said thats how its suppose to ride. sees like they were willing to do any thing but honor ther warrenty to fix any thing. i'm leasing this vehicle for almost $600 a month and i don't get why i should have to spend money to fix this vehicle up to make it safe (looks like possibley $3000 just for new brakes) if i'm just going to trade in, sell, dump in the ocean, or what ever. calling toyota corpate in CA for the first vehicle didn't do much good so i see no reason to call again for this one other to tell then they really are a lousy manufacter for allowing unsafe vehicles on the road and then doing nothing to fix them. trying to get rid of the vehicle if possible and get into some thing far more reliable but will never buy another toyota. they've burned me too many time for me to even think about going back so i'm done. i'll go to jeep or dodge and get a good american made vehicle instead....read morehide

- High quality construction, good winter traction, smooth engine, good convienences
- lower than expected gas milage, weak brakes, short person egonomics, down-shift problems
The 2006 highlander we bought new does not meet our expectations. Mileage on the freeway is 19mpg, significantly less than EPA estimate of 24mpg, unlike our 1995 villager which got it's EPA estimated mileage. Brakes are underpowered. power brake booster is slow to respond in emergency situtations. Suspension is sloppy under hard braking. Driver seat to steering wheel distance does not fit 6ft tall people. And the most annoying problem of all - downshifts while moving are slow to occur. Emergency downshifts do not occur fast enough. period. In summary, if driven conservatively, very conservatively, the vehicle is ok. But, when driven even a little bit aggresively, it responds like a fat pig....read morehide
