2008 Toyota Highlander

- Great happy median of many things
- Base model is relatively plain
Purchased As Used
My wife looked at cars costing up to 10K more than this, and ultimately decided the configuration, certified warranty, and ergonomics fit the requirements of what she wanted in a car. I-pod outlet/aux adapter is present, nice stereo, comfortable seats, lots of room front and back. We did pass on the same model with the 3rd row option, you just couldn't get an adult in and out of there. Many others have addressed the good handling, and the fuel economy, so I will leave that alone, as we have had similar observations....read morehide

- smooth, quiet, powerful than exepection.
- mpg a bit low.
I have a honda CRV 2006, it's noisy anytime. Power steeling not quite good as toyota. highlander as SUV, it meets all the requests I ever think of.
May honda pilot is another option, but too big too tough.

- Love everything 20k milesand no problems
- mileage is what they say, but with gas prices.......
Ver comfortable, put 20k miles on it and no problems, plenty of power, easy to drive ans see. if you need SUV this is best value in my opinion for money paid, space, power, gas mileage. quiet on highway at 80.

- Great fuel economy, can be easily mistaken for a Lexus
What i find really hard to believe is that our Highlander fills up just as often as our 07 Mercury Milan V6. It has a bigger tank (by two gallons) and my Milan averages 23mpg in the city. For an suv the highlander gets GREAT mpg. The looks of the new Highlander are MUCH IMPROVED over the old model. I test drove the Highlander, Honda Pilot, Dodge Journey, Nissan Murano, and Ford Edge. The Highlander came out on top on everything, not to mention the resale value is just as good if not better than the different vehicles we drove....read morehide

- Value, Performance, Fuel Economy, Ride
- Could use a tiny bit more lumbar support
Awesome for the value! I have been a Honda only man for 13 years. Between my wife and I we've had 5 Hondas. I compared the Pilot vs. the Highlander and there is no doubt in my mind I made the right choice with the Highlander. Its the smoothest ride I have ever driven. Its got great power, a big difference vs. Pilot and it gets better mileage. I've calculated getting about 22mpg with mostly highway miles. It is very comfortable but it could use a tad bit more support in the lumbar area. The Base 4x2 was a great value....read morehide

- What happened to the great Highlander?
- its ugly!
I have a 2002 with 160K and I have experienced no problems. I'm sure the 2008 is reliable also. However, they screwed up the looks! The first Highlander had nice lines and the new one looks like the other SUV's, flat side panels and a front and back that look so blah! what is there to like other than the reliability?
I was perched and ready to buy until I saw the new design. I'll hang onto my dear ole' 2002 til they "fix" the looks of the Highlander or I'll have to settle for another maker....read morehide

- Looks great, love the new design
- Hated the ride, acceleration was the worst I ever felt in an SUV
The pumping up and down of the drivers seat felt like a trip to the barber shop. I was just not impressed with the vehicle. I had been so hyped up to purchase this car, but after test-driving it for less than 5 minutes I decided this was just not the vehicle for me or ANYONE else. Save your money and buy a HONDA PILIOT instead....read morehide
