2008 Toyota Highlander

- Love the room that you have in the interior, gas mileage is great on open high way
- water pump
Purchased As Used
I am driving a 2008 full loaded highlander. Giving the reputation of the company I felt sure that this would be a low maint. dependable vehicle for me. About a week ago, with just a little over 61,000 my water pump had to be replaced. A $500 repair that had not budgeted for. My warranty expired at 60,000 miles. Toyota reputation as a car builder is something that needs to be examined by the owners of this company. Not what it used to be....read morehide

- Good fuel economy- 28 MPG, RIDE, Quiet Engine "NOW"
- Door handle is in the way of power window switch
I love my new highlander, and this is my 3rd. I am really impressed with the ride, and bluetooth. The only downside is if the volume (radio) is down, there is no setting to overide for bluetooth (loud). For everyone who complains about "noise". When replacing oil and filter, I suggest 4 qts and 1qt of "LUCAS" oil treament. The engine runs like a sewing machine (quiet). Don't buy navigation, why pay $2-3k more when you can buy a garmin ? The sound system is great, you can easily ad any portable device (aux input) - IPOD, ZUNE, no adapter required. The Lexus R330 is built on the same chassis as the highlander, why pay $45-$50??...read morehide

- good fuel econ, BT w/o nav excelent. comfort, legroom
- suspension a little stiff but not enough to lower rating
i have had this suv for 2 weeks now. still breaking in the motor but able to get 20mpg so far.
decided to get this over the camry because of the 2"+ legroom.
decided to get the cloth seats a) because leather was not avaible at the time of purchase b) because the leather seats seemed closer to the ceiling when fully lowered. i am tall so being futher away from the roof is a good thing.
did not get the third row, because lets face it, average size people just wont fit. the under floor storage is far more valuable than a 3 row seat. you have to put the trailer hitch some place.
if you go with the trailer hitch see if you can a highlander the way you want with the hitch already installed. the dealer will most likely double the price of the hitch and call is a labor charge. they tried to ding me for $1250 installed. got it down to $500 since they made me wait 7 hrs in the dealership for the car to arrive. also really look closely before you accept the keys. found a few bad scratches after i got home. fortunatly the dealer was able to fix them, but they had my car longer than i did that first week. not a happy camper but at least its fixed now.
the acceleration is a lot better than i had hoped. 0-60 in 7.5 is probably an understatement. i think it gets there faster than that, but i have not really been able to clock it yet. i have not had the transmission hunting problem that i have seen others report in reviews. if i am on the freeway and hit the gas, it will drop a gear or two and take off like a rocket.
you really cannot go wrong with this suv. i know people are saying that the doors dent easy... try this. the Toyota Grand Prix in Long Beach CA, uses Toyota Siennas for transportation around the track, they use the Solora for pace cares and they currently use the Sion Tc for the pro Celebraty race. these cars can take a beating like no other. so you get a ding from time to time, what car dosnt. when it comes down to it though. you want something that will keep your family safe. regardless if it is a Highlander or not, you definitly want to be in a toyota if something goes wrong on the road. if the grand prix trusts them for their officials, and for the celebraties, than you can with your family. i know i do....read morehide

- Excellent fuel economy, even better than stickered. Drives like a car. Steering wheel buttons +++
- 10,000 miles, and 4 months in and no negatives!!!
I bought this car during the middle of winter when I became uncomfortable with my wife driving a Hyundai Accent. Both of us have been thrilled. We think it looks just as sharp as the Lexus!!! The AWD is excellent, and I have never owned a car which get's better gas mileage at times than it was stickered at....read morehide

- Good fuel economy,
- HVAC is so-so,Upgraded JBL is poor sound
Bought the 08 sport 2 wheel drive, good fuel 22-23 MPG or so around town if you go easy. Ride is OK 19 inch wheels will be a cost to replace. Trim and fit is good. Little road air/noise which is surprising for a Toyota. Other wise pricy for what you get, no real perks for the cost....but the best gas mileage I could find for the size and v-6...read morehide

- Fuel economy is alright for a big car. Performance is great. Ride is so smooth compare w/ 4 runner.
- It's a little spicy for the bug. Cloth seat could be of better material.
I like it so far. Not sure about reliability. They have great color and solid performance. Not for off road purposes.

- Great fuel economy, smooth ride and great engine accelaration
I've also purchase a '08 highlader and can comment on it. I've had my highlader since September 2007 and have tested both in city and highway driving. Engine performance is awesome! Ride is moderately smooth and cabin quiet. I test drove a Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and liked both. After test driving the highlander, I felt the accelaration difference. Not to mention the price difference. Up until today, I am very satisfied with my highlander and recommend it to others. Remember, there is no perfect vehicle but the highlader is one of the many great crossovers out there. I highly recommend it....read morehide

- Strong engine, solid ride
- none so far
Well, of the many reviewers out there, I'm actually one who own's one of these. How someone can review a product they don't own I'll never understand.
I am very happy with it. It replaces a 2000 RX300. The added 3rrd row can fit to good sized adults. The ride is firmer than my Lexus but handling is much better and it is very quiet. Eay to drive / manuver.
Back-up camera, JBL 6-CD stereo, Blue-tooth, Auto AC front & rear, Leather, sunroof. Very powerful engine! Has everything one could want.
Ime very happy with my purchase!...read morehide
