After a year off the market, the Land Cruiser returns for 2013 with tons of off-road pedigree, loads of luxury features, and questions as to why it even exists. Though its a historical nameplate, Toyota is best-known these days for small, fuel-efficient vehicles that you can park in Tokyo or Los Angeles, The Land Cruiser, on the other hand, exists to challenge Range Rovers dominance in the luxury off-road category, and thats a battle it simply cant win. That said, its an absolute crusher off-road, with lots of power and incredible versatility when it comes to terrain controls, and a great Hill Assist feature for steep descent. In that sense, it challenges the Land Rover at every step. It also has plenty of luxury features. But on the highway, it feels like just another truck, as though it, too, doesnt quite understand why its here.
