We are a family of 5. We have 3 young boys.. ages 7, 4 and infant. We needed a true family hauler with power to take power toys and also all terrain.
X5 was too tight, cute but also to harsh. I wanted the x35D but it was too expensive and not enough room.
GL45: Too bland and we already own 2 other AMG (C32 and E55). I have enough headaches with MB. Turbo Diesel was weak in stock form.
Infiniti QX56: Old design and we used to own a 2004 Nissan Armada, we know the poor interior quality.
Audi A6: Too heavy and poor engine choices, even with TDI
LR4: Please! next!
Caddy Escalade: Please! next!
Lincoln MKT: Brakes! and exterior is uggly
In the end we fell in love with the LC and searched for it about 4 months. We look across the country and found one about 1 hour away from our So Cal home.
We paid a bit more than going out of state, but it was the color we wanted (silver) and interior we wanted (dark gray) and low miles and certified pre owed.
Power is great.. no problems there. Its very quiet for my taste, but good for my wife. My previous Armada had more pull of the line, but fell flat on the higher speeds. This things pulls to redline.
Handling is great.. it has an initial lean due to "gravity" but once it plants.. its sticks the corner. The harder you drive it, the move confidence you will get from the suspension. Basically if you get used to the initial roll, you will know that the truck will keep up with your command.
Brakes are perfect. Spot on! Great bite but not harsh enough to disrupt the kids movie.
Quality: Its made in Japan. No recall here. Also there is something to be said for the materials and fit and finish. Leather is think and dashboard is the best for Toyota's SUV's. I rather pay 10K more for a LC than a Sequoia Platinum with poor dash board design.
Resale value: I can sleep a bit better at night, unlike my MB cars or previous Infiniti, Nissan, cars. Acura and Honda have done well in resale value.
What I like most.... exclusive club of LC drivers. I have yet to see another one like ours around here... and I live in So Cal (Inland Empire) and work in Orange County.
