- Great looks, Fuel ecomony, Comfy ride, Tons of room
- very minor, not worth mentioning
I thought I would write considering how much I depended on these reviews when researching my matrix. I have an '03 XR. purchased in '05. Currently 86,000 miles. I commute 125 miles a day. Last car was a '97 civic and the matrix is better in every sense.
I average 30-32 mpg and that all highway and going fast. I am seated much higher than the civic which is much safer on the highway when everyone hits the brakes. Acceleration is slightly better than the civic. Sterio rocks, Most comfy seats ever.
I love the room. One of the only hatchbacks which allows the back glass to open independent from the hatch. This in invaluable when transporting things like 10' moulding back from home depot. I also fit 9' surfboards without a problem. With both closed, I can still carry two mountain bikes no problem, fits easier than my wife's old Cherokee.
Have not had any mechanical problems. The teather on the gas cap makes it hard for the gas attendent (only in NJ and OR) to completely close the gas cap. The gas tank then loses pressure and the check engine light comes on. After tightening the cap, the light goes off in a week.
Favorite feature: Auto lights, senses how dark it is outside and all exterior lights come on automatically.
This is my favorite car ever, definetly worth a look
