- Good gas milage and handling
- Clock is in a poor location. Can be a bit noisy over rough ground.
Purchased As New
Got the car new. I love the hatch back. A lot wider than the Ford Focus. It is better on the gas than the Ford Focus I used to have. I had 3 other guys and hiking gear and did not look power going uphill on mountain roads. I did get the black bumper protector and it looks better. Also recommend the rubber floor mats. It did want to get a exhaust chrome tip but Toyota charges too much for it....read morehide

- Stylish interior, Great fuel economy, Plenty of head room, Foldable mirrors, Outside temp. display
- Sunroof only avaliable in S and XRS models, Limited leg room in backseat
We recently got a 2009 Matrix. We traded in a Chevy Trailblazer, due to the cost of gas. We are completely satisfied!! We decided to get the base model, due to the 1.8 engine getting better gas mileage. Adding on alloy wheels was well worth the extra $500.00, too. On our first tank of gas, not only did it cost half as much to fill up, but we drove twice as far. During our first 2 weeks, we are getting 29 MPH! Hurray for the Matrix!...read morehide

- great MPG, roomy interior, great ride, handling adequate 1.8 power
- some road noise at 50 MPH
This car is terrific! We are averaging close to 29 MPG in LOCAL 'city' driving. We are completly satisifed with this car with the exception of slightly elevated road noise over 50 MPH, and a lack of a rear wiper on the base model. The 1.8 engine has all the power necessary, and the interior seats 5 comfortably. The basic radio has excellent clarity!
The car rides 'higher' than most small cars, making for a visibility bonus!...read morehide

- I've gotten as high as 37mpg on the interstate with my new Matrix!
- The dash is primarily plastic. It would have been a lot nicer to have leather.
My husband and I test drove a lot of new cars before we decided on the Matrix. None of them compared to the instant comfort and reliability we felt the minute we got into the driver's seat. I've had many passengers say the backseat is nice and roomy, and I absolutely LOVE my hatchback! It's perfect for running erronds, taking the dog to the bark park, and packing for a light camping trip!...read morehide

- Good fuel economy, good pick up for the base engine, seat and driving position good and I'm 6' 2"
- Ride a bit noisy inside at highway speed
Love the style and functionality of the car. Reminds me of a smaller CRV which I have. Like the drivers seat which goes higher and lower. Just got base matrix and power package but am really pleased. Just a bit noisy inside at highway speed and a bit of a rough ride at highway speed also.

- Sporty, Good on Gas, very quiet smooth ride
- Dashboard may take some getting used to. Seems to show dirt easily
I have had this car less than a week and I am very happy with it. I test drove the car last week and went back to make an offer the next day. I "downgraded" from a small SUV to this one because it drives like my VUE did. The heated mirrors, built in satellite receiver mp3 input and other options are all nice features.
It is a very good commuter car. The trunk is small but the seats fold flat so you can fit a lot in it if you need to....read morehide

- Great fuel economy, Cool Look
- After over 200 miles already, none yet
The 2009 base 4-Spd AT Matrix looks great. Just coming off a Honda Fit the ride felt smooth as a boat ride. The main reason why I bought the Matrix was to comfort my right leg and so far so good. Toyota really did a good job augmenting the standard options like the side airbags, trip meters, required maintenance indicator, heated side mirrors, and what not. I like that the front seats can be adjusted vertically. I...read morehide
