- Comfortable smooth ride and saves on gas.
- Hood to low, can't see when parking.
Love this car! Easy to drive and very roomy inside. Yet it is easy to park because of it's compact size. Good safety features. Wish the tax rebate could have continued.

- Superb MPG, Good looking
It is a big fun toy! I traded in my VW for this 08Prius and can not be any happier. I often hear people talking about the prius real world MPG. I guess it all depends on your driving habit. Like the other owner mentioned, I also have found Prius has transformed my driving habit in a good way. It is a subtle change to be smoother and maybe politer and I call it "eco-driving-mode". I found if you can limit your high way speed to 60, you are very likely to get around 55! (But when you do this, please do not occupy left lanes on busy highways, for Prius sake!) At least that's what I have observed. I can imagine this car will do even better when it gets warmer. Another fact you can't ignore is slow city drive, and heavy traffic jam don't compromise prius MPG at all! It is really odd to me first and I still have difficulty to understand the mechanism behind this strange phenomenom. But it didn't take me too long to realize how fantastic it really means.
In short, I found my 08Prius much easier to be accepted and loved than I anticipated!...read morehide

I have a 2007 Prius which I have driven 15000 miles in 6 months . Tank after tank I am averaging 52 to 55 mpg. I am waiting for the 09 which is suppose to get 100 mpg .I will definetely buy another The only Con is cold weather and I will lose 10% of my mileage. The room and ride are great for a small car...read morehide

- Good fuel economy, about 4mpgs less than the computer says, leather is nice, ride is good for sm car
- no power seat, seat could be more comfortable (I'm a big guy), rear visibility could be better
We owned an 02 Lexus SUV and needed better mpg. After the loaded Lexus, we were quite picky.
We did extensive research and drove several models of Prius and Civic hybrids. We settled on a package 3 2008 Prius and added factory leather on seats and armrests. The leather was a must, because we noticed that the armrest fabric showing wear on even new Prius models.
My wife is small (4'11) and I am big (6'0, 240lbs), but the car fits us both fine. She is a "little" more comfortable than I, but we can drive it for two hours and not feel tired. Not as nice as the Lexus, but pretty close...for the price, dang close!
The mileage has been good and it sure is nice to fill up on so little cash. The hatchback will carry quite a bit, but if you load it down and travel in the mountains, be prepared for the car to "complain" on those long climbs.
Overall, trading down from the Lexus has been fine. A little less luxury, a little less ride, a little less space. However, for the $ gained in fuel and cost, it has been more than worth it. We have shaved about $250 per month off our fuel bill.
This is the fourth Toyota I have owned (and the first new one). I have to say that I continue to be satisfied with their products. Oh...by the way, I just might be saving the environment too!...read morehide

- Obvious MPG, overall drive
- Poor rear visibility
Bought 2008 Prius after extensive research and test driving.
I am 6'4, 220 lbs and have no trouble driving it. I have had it a month now and have gotten 49.8, 48.3, 45.3, and 47.8 MPG on tanks so far. Since those are Pennsylvania winter numbers and include some rain and snow driving, I am very happy with them. I have checked the computer MPG by calculating myself and it is always relatively close (+-3MPG).
REMEMBER: your review will depend on what you are used to! Some people complain about the dumbest things!
The car is not built for racing, but has plenty of pick-up for me.
Plenty of passenger and cargo room for me too.
The seat is not the most comfortable, but I have no problem spending 5+ hours/day in the car (no more that I had with any other car). Again, it is all relative to what you are driving now.
Overall I would recommend this car to anyone. Two $1.99 wide angle mirrors will compensate for the only flaw I noticed so far, poor rear visibility....read morehide
