- Engine shut off when stopped, electric motor for stop and go has lots of torque
- Tire grip could be better
Had my '08 for a year+. Driven almost exclusively in DC stop and go traffic. Electric motor has a lot of pep from stops, zips. Stop and go mileage 38-40 with leadfoot. Drops to 25-27 when cold (6 mile--20 min drive with stop signs every 50-100 yards). That compares to 15 mpg on my other cars, so is still a lot better than anything else in comparable conditions. On long hills (Western MD/Cumberland Gap) acceleration suffers. However, aerodynamics are brilliant, so more than makes up for it when freewheeling on downhill side. Kept this up for 10 miles with SUVs--they'd gain on the uphill when I'd drop from 80-55, then they'd get slowed down on downhill side when hitting a wall of air and I'd zip by. But it did get annoying after a while. ~42 mph on hwy at 80 on long stretches. Really enjoyable and comfortable car to drive, keyless entry is great--fob never leaves my pocket, wish I could do the same for my front door... Front and back legrom better than most large cars. Only con is that tire grip is tenuous (skinny tires, light weight) and traction control is somewhat skittish, esp. in wet weather.
