- Reasonable fuel economy, smooth ride, quiet.
- A geek look at a High price, expensive to repair all parts and labor by the dealer.
I drove my prius approximately 100 miles/day on non interstate highway. I was able to average 47 mpg by slowing down and following the increase your milage recommendations, However, it increased my 1 HR trip by 20 min./ea. Direction. Under normal conditions, I was able to get 41 mpg. The main reason I purchased a Hybrid for is to reduce gas expenses. This was negated quickly as my auto insurance was +/_ $300/yr higher than my minivan, the prius comes with a premium of $5k + compared to a corolla or a similar size car, all repairs and pats other than oil filter has to be performed by the dealer (premium cost), the battery pack is not covered under warranty after 100k mi, mine broke just past that mark. The dealer was not willing to honor the warranty another $4k premium. The car comes with too many high voltage warnings which makes my wife very concern to ride in it (personal, but valid concern).
In summary, if saving hard earned cash is ones motivation to purchase a prius, one is set for a surprise.

- Good around town car
- Too small/light for highway
I use this car for 90% highway driving in the northeast. My fuel economy is around 35MPG. I have had a numebr of mechanical problems that required service. I would not get another one.
