- good fuel economy, great pick-up for a 4 cyl, good cargo room
- needs more leg room for the driver/ needs xm option
Overall it is a great suv. Where are you going to get a 4X4 suv that gets almost 30 mpg, and only costs around $21,000?

- Roomy, good MPG, comfortable ride
Just got a new RAV4. With 3 young kids and a tight budget, I'm very pleased with the RAV. Money permitting, we'd have gone with a larger car, but no complaints. They have more rear leg room than other cars we've used, so the kids had room and there was room for the front seat to recline. Still less than a 1000 miles on the car, but so far so good....read morehide

- comfortable seats & ride, 4 cylinder is great on gas, power is good
- awful wind noise when back windows are open
4 people fit comfortable, backseat is small for fifth person, can't use back windows because of annoying noise, plenty of storage on the 5 seater, love the quality and gas mileage

- good on fuel,plenty of power,driver friendly.
- none yet
I traded in my 2000 dodge dakota for this, and so far i am not missing my truck. The fuel economy is good so far, mid 20's.
I do have one minor complaint, on the highway, on nice days, i like to drive with the passenger side window open for fresh air and a breeze.
The problem is if I do this the wind makes a terrible vibration/fluttering noise that is so bad that i have to close the window and use a/c. like i said it is minor unless you like to do this. overall i love the rav4 so far. i do also own a 2000 camry and a 2006 camry and they are very reliable and comfortable also.if you are curious about the 4 cylinder engine, it is plenty powerful to move you into the fast lane, without straining....read morehide

- Nice Seats, Peppy, Goodlooks, Quality, good on Gas
- Plastic is hardish and cheepy on the dash and doors, no beeping for the head lights being on.
I originally wanted to buy the Jeep Liberty, I had a friend who could give me a 10% discount cause he worked for the company. I thought the Jeep was a nice truck, However do to the large trans the foot space was limited also do to the vertical engine, also the engine was loud and thirsty. I drove it and my Big Butt and Back was not comfortable:-( Why should the truck be so tight? Also the ride was bumpy and not too user friendly. I know this is a trail rated off road vehicle, but how often will you go off road? I live in New Jersey not Colorado. Jeep needs to get Mercedes to invest money to get a more efficent engine. This one was a bit outdated to me. After my drive I past a Toyota Dealer and thought.."Hey the new Rav04 is Bigger and larger." I stop into the dealer and took it for a test drive. I LOVED it! Alot of Space for my Feet and Butt, the car was great on Breaking and Space and it was very, Very Agile. I had a small Subaru before and it was a great car and had a great Turning Ratio, this car was even better, "for a truck". All around good deal, the 4 cylinder has enough power. The critics only talk about the 6 cyclinder which is more pricey and it is not needed. The 6 is good for Towing, but that is all. The critics must be used to driving Mustangs, Corvettes and V8 Hemi's. Shame on them for pushing the 6 with $3.00 a gallon for Gas. The 4 is very good, try it people. The rear has more leg room than a Jeep Cherokee, and the car looks great.
My only beef is when I leave the lights on and try to walk away it will not beep or let you know you left the lights on. Not good Japan! I will one day forget to turn my light out. Anyway, It is a great car and I strongly recommend it....read morehide

- Love the design, fuel economy and comfort
- Not a one!
My trade-in was Nissan Pathfinder, which was a real gas guzzler. It took a long time to find a SUV 4x4 that was strong on looks AND got good gas mileage--in fact, I almost gave up! Then came along the newly designed 2006 RAV4. What a pleasant surprise with the gas mileage!! I finally have the best of both worlds. I bought my new RAV in the Base model a few weeks ago. The only option that I added was a sunroof, but well worth the enjoyment factor, even if it cost an additional $1,000. The 4 cylinder offers more than enough power (even though I was used to my V6 in the Pathfinder) and the ride is smooth and comfortable. Sure, there could be more options, but honestly, all the options I really need were included in the base. Can't beat the price, quality and value....read morehide

- fuel economy, style, dependability, size, improved design
- needs rear opening window, satelite ready sterio option
i traded in my 2004 (which was perfect) for the new body style. I have only had it a few days, but it is very nice. It runs perfect, quiet and has many more compartments than the previous models. it is longer which takes a little getting use to but it is easy to drive and the engine purrs along nicely. Its not a speed demon like the v6 will be but it is peppy and smooth and gets good gas mileage for its size and all wheel drive, etc.
The 4x4 has been redesigned this year so I hope it performs as well or better as the previous 4x4 ravs. The dealer tells me its the same system that is in the highlander. I will follow up after the next snow storm. i wish they would have put the tire somewhere other than on the back, i thought with the redesign they would have done this. the radio is better than the previous models, not as good as a gm radio but much improved. the interior is nice, could use a little more front leg room for passangers but the rest has been increased nicely. they added a outside temp. gauge on dash which is very nice to have!!
The exterior is sharp but i wish they would have offered or had body side molding to help protect the suv. The dealer said that all the new redisigns are coming in without body side molding, so it must be the in thing, wait till people start getting dings in the doors :)
It handled nicely and was a little quietier than my 2004. If the 4x4 works good I am sure I will be totally impressed with my new rav.
I would highly recommend this to others. I am a car buff on a budget and really have enjoyed my past rav and with the improved wheel base, etc on the new one I think i may be even more pleased....read morehide
