- Handling, storage, side curtain airbags for rear
- No light in rear cargo; Someime hesitant acceleration from stand-still
This is my 4th RAV4. I started with the little "high-top tennis shoe" design and have now, I hope, purchased my last vehicle. The handling is as always, nimble, responsive and stable. With the addition of 14" in length, storage is absolutely the best ever, and it rides smoother than the 2005 I had.
My only semi-complaint is the hesitancy that I sometimes notice when I try to accelerate from a stand-still. It's great when you're already up to speed, but I could "burn rubber" in my little 1999 model. Perhaps the 6cyl would have better "get up and go", but the 4cyl has proven to be quite adequate for me.
I have had Celica's, a Supra, and a 4-Runner, any of which I would gladly exchange for the RAV4 I drive today. I see complaints about noise.....without the addition of the vent shades which add wind noise, this one is the quietest yet and good grief...you are driving a small vehicle, not a full-size SUV. Also, if the gas mileage upsets you, get a Prius or one of the hybrids. Try the gas mileage on the 4-Runner....about 10MPG less than the RAV4.
