- Good turning radius, Split folding 3rd seat
- Run Flat Tires! Quirky Rear Radio, Lack of Power
At 30 K miles, we're going to trade this car in because of the run-flat tires. At 12,000 miles, the factory tires were shot. The dealer said that they couldn't get the tires, and they had to send the vehicle out to have them put on when the tires came in. The dealer was great, and they replaced the tires free of charge after much complaining on my part. However, after another 18K, the 2nd set is done in also. At $250 apiece, figure spending $1000 or more per year just on tires. Toyota needs to do something to stop this debacle. Can anyone say "Explorer" without thinking of Firestone failures? Since the vehicle came with run-flats, it is not equipped with a spare tire. Toyota's solution is to offer a kit for a spare tire, and have you go back to standard tires. The problem is, the location for the spare tire is behind the 3rd seat in the rear storage area. So, you lose the ability to fold the 3rd seat flat because you now have a spare tire in the well. Avoid the AWD like the plague to keep away from the run flats.
