2005 Toyota Sienna

- comfort, quiet (until squeaks, rattles, fun flat tires wear out), inside space
- squeaks, runflat tires, frequent recalls, rough downshift, rattles, MPG!
Mines a 2004, bought Feb 28th, 2004. MANY problems w/ this car.
What were Toyota's engineers thinking with the runflat tires? I didn't even KNOW about this feature until I got the car home. Worn out at 20,000 miles despite balancing, rotating, and alignments every 5k miles, tires are shot. Got a nail in a sidewall and ONE tire was $340 installed. A real mistake. AM looking for aftermarket tires but NON-standard 17" rims a real problem here too. Am also looking at another car, soonest.
Car rattles, door noises from vapor barrier sheeting I'm told; dealer happily cut this out from driver side door; now passenger door makes same noise at varying road speeds. MUCH other internal adventitious noise from plastic-leather interface, seat belt mechanism inside door pillar, dash radio plate, and on, and on. Some temperature-dependent, most not. Radio used to drown it out, now just exacerbates it, had to turn bass down to -3.
BEST mileage on roadtrip to Florida when new. 22 mpg hwy. Best average all around mileage in past year, 16.7mpg. Even though road trip to work is all highway.
Recalls: radiator, and power steering unit.
I think they should recall the tires, suspension and vapor barrier for starters.
If this stops just ONE person from buying a Toyota Sienna, I'll feel better. Unfortunately, two friends bought these cars and have same complaints about them.
