Satisfied customer.

by Sylvia S. from Chippewa Falls,WI. (7/19/08)
Pros:Excellent MPG,roomy for it size, holds the road on turns very well.
Cons:Ride is a little hard. Need speed limits marked in 10's not 20's .Or at least the 10 line made long.

Terrific little car. Very pleased with it. Instrument panel convenient and simple to use. Bought it 3 weeks ago. Getting 26.8 on the highway using AC.

No More Minivan for me!

by Valerie from Chandler, AZ (7/16/08)
Pros:Fuel Economy, third row, cargo room
Cons:cloth interior, no backup sensors, third row entry

I've owned my new RAV4 for a month now, and am really enjoying it! I went from a minivan, and am so happy to have a more fuel efficient vehicle.

I've been averaging 24-26 mpg, with very little to no highway driving! It is a joy to not have sticker shock at the pump.

We opted for the third row, since I have 3 children to tow. My youngest (ages 4 and 6) sit in the back row, comfortably in their booster seats. The older one is in the middle row, and happy there. I can re-arrange them as they get older, and I like that option. It is nice to know I can have my children's friends with me when I need to carpool, too.

The price was fantastic, compared to other third row haulers with much better fuel efficiency.

2008 Rav4 4WD Limited "Blizzard White"

by MDH from Monterey Bay, Ca. (7/14/08)
Pros:Great fuel economy, room & equipment
Cons:Haven't found any yet...

Test drove the 2008 Honda CRV and 2007 Rav4 4WD but went with the 2008 Rav4 4WD Limited (4 Cyl). We own a Toyota Sequoia V8 as well but needed something with better mileage for traveling from the coast to the sierras and back. The 2008 over the 2007 are completely different we found. Nearly, or may have, doubled our MPG over the Sequoia as we'd hoped. We remain surprised at the power climbing from sea level to 7000' in the Sierras, during the summer, loaded with a family of four and trusty Golden Retriever. Nice power to weight ratio. Also, the rear seat leg room seems larger than the Sequoia somehow.

The Rav4 4WD Limited with heated leather seats & mirrors, sunroof, four wheel disk brakes and JBL sound system etc. is a winner for us. We are hoping this proves to be the case during winter 08/09 (snow) driving to the ski resort as well. One thing for sure is the gas gauge doesn't seem to move after a fill up for a long time. Safety & Fuel economy were our main decision makers on the 08 Rav4 4WD Limited...

We Love It!!

by JR from Osage Beach,MO (7/13/08)
Pros:Good fuel economy, V6 supplies all power thats needed, inside roomy, great styling, acceptable ride
Cons:steering wheel small causing oversteer, front seats small for tall driver

I bought this car for my wife to drive back and forth to work, to haul groceries and garden items in. It also is our primary vehicle to take on trips. Gas mileage, reliability, and crash tests results were factors that I looked at when we were shopping for a new car. After reviewing Consumer Reports rating of the Rav4 and the excellent ratings it received we took the vehicle for a test drive and were very pleased. We also considered the Honda CRX but the RAV4 got better gas mileage and had a V6 option. The Honda only offered a 4 Cyl and had bad reviews on power in hills. We chose the Limited and this package dresses up the vehicle quite nicely, with the leather interior. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles but the higher end options package provides about all the options you really need. We have owned this vehicle for about 2 months now and really love it. The interior is very roomy for both the driver and passengers, as a matter of fact the passenger seats actually tilts back. Most of the rear seats I have seen are in a fixed position. The rear door opens easily even though the spare is mounted to it and provides easy access to the rear cargo area. My only criticism of the vehicle would be the steering wheel seems small which causes you to oversteer at times but more time behind the wheel fixed that problem and the center console is too low for those who like to rest an arm there and steer the vehicle at the same time.
Overall I would say we are very satisfied and would recommend a test drive for anyone shopping for this type of vehicle.

You get it all, RAV4 Limited=VALUE!

by Discwizard70 from Clovis, CA (7/11/08)
Pros:MPG for a V6, VERY powerful, Interrior room, GREAT sound system, Smooth ride, 7 passengers
Cons:Back seat is a little tight, cargo area needs brighter light, it doesn't do your dishes for you!

This SUV is an absolute STEAL!!! I heavily recommend the Limited package, as it has every convenience you would ever need. Bluetooth, radio control on the steering wheel, etc. The stereo in the limited is awesome (it has tweets, mids, lows and an 8'' sub in the back!!) The handling is very smooth and agile, and the 4WD adjust itself perfectly. There are airbags all the way around too. Basically if you want a safe car, this is it! You wouldn't believe the power that this V6 puts out.....it has 269 horse-power.....more than you will ever need, and it makes hill climbing seem as if you are on flat land. If you are in the market for a gas-saving SUV that is safe to drive (and wreck) without lacking on power, looks, or comfort, then you have found your match! Best of all, you get all of this for around $27K........a great value!

Go ahead and buy one.

by Brian from Raymond, ME (7/03/08)
Pros:Power (V6), fuel economy, features, radio
Cons:No high end trim levels even the limited has an economy feel

This is a great vehicle! The V6 has more power than you need. We get about 22-24 MPG average. Cargo area is a little small compared to standard SUVs but it is well thought out. The rear seats that can be folded down from the tailgate area are a plus. Tiedown gromets in the back end come in handy too. Roof rack will hold a small canoe or 2 kayaks easily.

Goes good in the snow but it would go much better with more agressive tires. The short wheelbase and extra power makes it want to spin a little.

Rav 4 Disappointment

by Marie Schoenfelder from Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730 (6/30/08)
Pros:good looking.
Cons:Terrible gas mileage. No pep.

I traded in my FJ Cruiser for the Rav 4 Sport model 4/2 because I was only getting about 15-16 miles per gallon. I've now had my Rav 4 for about 2 months. The last time I checked the mileage I got, it was under 15 mpg. The Rav 4 is not as solid feeling as the FJ. I just felt safer in it. The Rav 4 also has little pep when you hit the gas, especially after you have turned a corner. It really lags. I'm really disappointed. I'm going to fill up again in a day or so, and if the mileage isn't any better, I'm definitely taking it back and they better find out what's wrong with it.

by A.O from Long Island, NY (6/21/08)
Pros:Roomy, Good looking, 25 mpg, Standard equipment
Cons:Engine noise

I aboslutely love my RAV4, it is small but is very roomy, came standard with ABS, VSC and so on. The dashboard is very vanilla but the quality of the plastic parts is superb.
