Very Impressed ,Used to be a Chevy and Ford Man ?

by Curtis M. from Shady Point, OK (6/28/08)
Pros:Great power ,Great brakes, Very comfortable, Best backseat there is, Decent gas mileage
Cons:Hard to tell where the front end is, Toyota`s bedliner still to slick, Gauges difficult to see

Ive read a few of the comments and disagree quite a bit . Me and my wife drove from our house in Shady Point Ok, to my daughter and son-in-law`s witch is around 160 miles in Ashdown AR, one way and we checked it to the tee filled fuel to the neck cleared Odometer and we averaged 20 miles to the gallon, thats driving on the average 60 to 65 MPH . That beats my old ford supercrew 4x4 F-150 that at best being babied would get 17 MPG . So I dont know how the other`s are driving but I don`t believe them.

poor gas mileage, lots of problems

by brian from Phoenix, Az (6/25/08)
Pros:pretty good looking truck
Cons:Lots of problems! Loud and Lousy gas mileage

I traded in my F150 for the Crewmax. I am SO dissapointed! I've been in for 2 recalls in first 3 months and in toyota service dept 8 times!!!, stalled in intersection, lost power while towing, and I hear a grinding noise when starting it cold. Worst of all, the fuel mileage is horrible!!! I'm getting 11 mpg and even worse when I pull my boat. Honestly, the 06 F10 was a much better truck. I'll pay this one off and next time look at the Ford. Live and learn

Toyota Tundra: The new King of Texas Trucks

by Carlos Bosch from Abilene, TX (5/30/08)
Pros:Beautiful vehicle, comfortable, powerful but smooth engine, spacious, excellent sounds
Cons:Toyota could improve on the 13 MPG

This truck is a dream come true, even if you don't normally like trucks. Everything about the purchase of this vehicle was wonderful as well. I had a spectacular sales representative named Chris Ashley at Lithia of Abilene who was tireless in answering all my questions, and was very strait forward with the previos feedback obtained. The "Limited" version of the Tundra has more luxury then you could have ever hoped for in a truck before, everything from the Blue tooth phone system, XM radio, and automatic teliscoping steering wheel is a breeze to operate. (And all made in San Antonio, Texas) This is my third Toyota and the quality and quantity recieved for my money has never been better. Chris has become a trusted friend and I would recomend him and the entire Lithia team to anyone in the market for a vehicle. The after sale treatment and service has been just as extrordinary as the purchace of my 2008 Tundra Crew Cab.

AMAZING!

by Carol from Knox IN (5/30/08)
Pros:Considering the size and horsepower the mpg is not bad. Super confortable ride and really spacious.
Cons:None that I have encountered yet.

I love my truck!!
The turning radius is great, because it is so tight.
The power will sit you back in your seat.
The back seat is actually just as comfortable as sitting in the front.
Imagine ... the pulling power of a 3/4 ton truck in a 1/2 ton truck.

Yuppie Truck, Yes. Work Truck, No!

by Worland from Clovis, NM (5/25/08)
Pros:Roomy front seats
Cons:Noisy interior, rattles, pitiful hauling capacity, Horrible MPG

Leased a 2008 for 7 months now. Contrary to the commercials, it's only rated to tow 8000 pounds. Its performance was pitiful towing a 5200 pound trailer across country. I only got 6-7 MPG and it was a dog going up the Rockies. My first trip to Lowes, I loaded 800 pounds of concrete in the bed. The bed was almost riding on the tires. I've never seen anything like it. Most trucks can handle twice that without sagging. And, I'm in the tailgate failure club. First two tailgates cracked at the seams with less than 600 pounds on them. The bed rattles and it bounces all over the place. The stereo is good, but it rattles the interior panels when you turn it up. Motor Trend forgot to mention how loud (road noise) the interior gets. There's not a lot of front head room. My head is almost on the windshield. It does get up and go, but MPG is around 12 in town and 14-15 highway. It's OK if all you want is a fast truck or something to go to Home Depot with once a year. Don't plan on using it for real work. It's been very disappointing. I can't wait for th lease to expire.

Don't buy a Toyota...here's why.

by Cole from Washington, NC (5/16/08)
Pros:Roomy
Cons:Horrible fuel economy, horrible handling/ride, poor looks

Before purchasing, I test drove the Toyota Tundra, Dodge Ram, the Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra, and the Ford F150. While the Toyota had some decent features such as roomy interior and nice sound system, overall my ranking of this vehicle amongst the four was a 3rd place finish. The Dodge was easily the least desirable. The Chevy/GMC trucks were very nice, but easily above and beyond the rest was the truck I subsequentally bought, the Ford F150 Lariat SuperCrew. The Tundra had slightly more room in the interior than the Ford, but the price of the Ford and the elegance of the interior and the quietness, ride/handling characteristics of the Ford made it an easy choice over the Toyota and the Chevy/GMC. The Tundra does have good power with the 5.7L. My toyota salesperson told me I would average 16mpg. On a overnight test drive, however, I found at best it was capable of 13. The Ford easily got 17, with excellent power as well. The 2008 F150 I bought is a much nicer looking vehicle in my opinion as well and it outperformed all of the others in most categories; I think all the others should be worried when the new 09 F150 I saw in pictures comes out with their more fuel efficient 6-speed transmission that will boost fuel economy. Toyota did a nice job with this Tundra, but still needs alot to catch my Ford.

Initial Impressions - Great

by Sam from Dunlap, IL (5/15/08)
Pros:Great ride, but not all models. If ride and noise are an issue, don't pick TRS Off Road
Cons:Too much console, gage hard to see in day light.

I was impressed with the power, attention to detail, and overall interior layout. Was a struggle to learn about the differences in ride and noise given some models have TRS exhaust. Suspension on TRS is way too stiff and harsh for most people, surprised they sell to anyone who's not spending time off road or in the farm/construction business. F150 in 4x4 crew as a close second, and I'm a Chevy fan, but not this time. The 4X4 crew or double cab with SR5 and no TRS suspension, exhaust and tires will be hard to beat. No commnets on reliability, too new, but I'm sure I won't be doing much wrenching myself. Too much technology packed into to work on. Dealer prices averaged $5K to $6.5K below sticker price.

This Tundra is a Keeper!!!

by Mark McFadden from Muskogee, OK (5/04/08)
Pros:Plenty of Power, Lots of room for the Big Guy, Ride is Great and Audio system is a TEN!
Cons:Fuel Mileage not the best but afterall it is a 5.7 V8. Keypad entry would have been nice.

I have owned a Chevy 1 ton, 3/4 ton, and 1/2 ton. Most recent vehicle was a 2001 Ford Expedition. Found myself looking to get back behind the wheel of a pick-up and after a lot of research and test drives I went with a 2008 Toyota Tundra 4x4 Crewmax Ltd. with the 5.7 V8.

My Tundra also came with the 20" tire upgrade as well as the DVD Navigation system and audio system upgrade. I am quite the audiophile and I absolutely love the sound this truck pumps out! The bluetooth feature makes handsfree use of your cell phone a pleasure.

The back-up camera is also great when hitching the boat or anything else you decide to haul and this truck can pull it's fair share and then some.

You will also learn to love the auto-dimming mirrors when driving at night. If that is not enough you will just have to love the power rear window. Great for venting a HOT truck after sitting in the sun all day or just for enjoying some fresh air when out putting the Tundra through it's paces.

I highly recommend a spray-on liner such as the Linex liner I had installed. It is the only thing Toyota did not send this one out with!

Overall a Great Truck. Motor Trend was Right on with this one!

Not a good trunk at all

by Roman Perez from Houston, TX (4/20/08)
Pros:Interior space
Cons:Ride, interior quality, handling, transmission, performance

I bought a Toyota Tundra after hearing many good reviews about the Tundra. Those reviews turned out to be false. First of all, the truck towing capability is not anywhere near what the company said it would tow. The trunk is very sluggish especially under towing. The turning is very clumsy and wide even for a trunk. The payload on the trunk is not good either. Its payload is somewhat significantly less than other manufacturers. The interior quality of the Tundra is lackluster. There are many hard plastics which feel and look cheap. Overall the Toyota Tundra is a below average trunk which Toyota failed to fully develop.

Would not recomend to anyone

by Mad Tundra owner from Haughton, Louisiana (3/31/08)
Pros:Lots of room, good power.
Cons:Rough ride, drinks gas 15mpg in town 17mpg on hwy. Expensive to maintain.

After getting over the fact that it was the latest and greatest. I found that trying to change the oil yourself was a near impossible task. Special oil filter (dealer item $$$$). Horrible placement of oil filter and the nead of special tools. So I had to take it to dealer for oil changes. Second thing that I did not like was that there is a SAT button on the radio for satalite radio. So I was going to have it activated. Wrong. I would have to purchase this equipment from the dealer and have them install it, and beleive it or not with the part and labour for just SAT radio would have come to nearly $900.00. No joke. If you need to get anything out of the bed you have to climb in the truck because it is so big and tall. The last thing that I came across was I needed the winshield wipers replaced. So I go to the local parts store. Well Toyota wanted to be special so there wipers are different and not available but at Toyota dealer ($$$$). So I put on a brave face and head to the dealer. $45.00 for driver side, $28.00 for pasenger side wipers. $73.00 plus tax. I was so angry. The original wipers didnt even last a year. I'm sure the longer I have this truck the more I will feel as if I'm being held up in a robbery. I can afford theses things I just dont like to be ripped off. So in short I do not have there SAT radio I have an aftermarket, and I am changing out the wiper arms so I can put what ever wiper I want on.
