Toyota can't make a truck....yeah right!!

by Oilfield Trash from Houston, Texas (6/30/08)
Pros:Power, Handling (Steering and Traction control + Tow mode), Good Fuel Economy for size of Vehicle.
Cons:It is a stiff ride......with TRD offroad package. Blind spots.

This big bad puppy will out do anything that the 3 Americas (Ford, Chev and Dodge) can do and then some. Didn't believe it myself until I got in and drove one. That was it, I was hooked!! Other than the stiff ride (which most well endowed women may not like) and some vision restriction (just adjust to that), this is the finest truck I have operated in all my years of owning trucks. Those who complain shouldn't be driving a truck of this magnitude.

BUY AMERICAN, BUY A TOYOTA!!!

by Harold Stroehsnitter from Patchogue, NY (6/13/08)
Pros:Safety Features are Standard, Looks, Performance and Quality Build
Cons:Non Flex Fuel Vehicle

I've had this truck for 6 months now and no problems at all. Those "Good Americans" who complain about foreign cars should start writing better English first of all; and secondly, they should know that Tundras are made in Indiana with not less than 80% North American materials. Having said that, I have to say that this truck is a very nice vehicle, pretty well built and a serious competitor for the three American Car Makers. Of course, gas mileage is not the best, but it is not the worst either. Actually I get around 17 MPG combined and with AC on. I f you are looking for something more than that just buy a Chevy Aveo or a Smart Car. Let's face it, you bought a truck because you need power and cargo capacity to run your business, so the truck is an important asset that helps you to get more income. Do you want more MPG? Just get rid of your heavy foot and you'll be surprised of how much money you've wasted for driving like an "American"

First Foreign truck & totally disapointed

by Frank H. from Plymouth, PA. (6/12/08)
Pros:Roomy interior, Red glow instruments are great, great engine, decent ride
Cons:Fuel mileage is poor, cannot check auto transmission fluid level, RSCA unit has stuck in off pos.

I was always under the impression that Toyota was a quality product, so i purchased the 08 SR5 Double, thinking i was getting a truck that would last. I have less than 500 mi. on it and the air bag switch will not turn the side air bags back on. Gas mileage is around 11 mpg in city, Traveling down hills, when it stops at the bottom, the truck will not shift into a lower gear to start out. No dip stick to check transmission fluid, dealer was unaware of this and simply does not care to make the truck right. Called other dealers, as they are some distance from each other and most replied let your selling dealer repair your complaints. My dealer Motorworld of Wilkes Barre, Pa. has very little interest in doing so. So much for Toyota quality and dependability. After owning 12 new American made pick-up trucks, i suggest anyone shopping for a new truck be carefull not to make the mistake i did. Check-up on your selling dealer through Better Business Bureau before purchasing, the truck has some nice features, to make them appealing but trust me they are poor quality and so our some of the dealers. Buy a chevrolet or Ford for dependability.

Tundra plain rocks!!

by Kent from Las Vegas, Nevada (6/10/08)
Pros:Power, towing, decent fuel mileage for it's size.
Cons:Somewhat stiff ride, but only on concrete freeways. Has TRD package.

I get a kick out of some of the earlier posts about the truck being weak and cannot tow anything. Oh ya...most of the posters cannot even spell...what does that tell you?? Quite the opposite on towing is true. I have had the truck for a year now, and just upgraded to a 27' travel trailer. Believe me...it tows it just fine!! I have been up 6% grades and the truck pulls them at 65 MPH without having to mash the pedal to the floor. Even in 40MPH headwinds it tows the trailer well.

Gas mileage is good too for as big as it is. Last tank to and from work with mixed in town driving was 19 MPG...I did not have to hitch a ride with Howie Long!! Freeway would be 20 MPG or better...how can Chevy even claim they get better mileage with that weak 5.3L engine?

Truck rides great and JBL stereo is awesome too. Try one, you won't be disappointed!!

A more expensive Ford F-150

by Erik from EP,TX (5/30/08)
Pros:Power, Power, Power
Cons:Just an improved copy of a Ford F-150

This is the strongest and fastest truck I have ever driven. Almost as strong as a Ford lightening. But it does drink alot of gas, and has some drivetrain vibrations I can't resolve. Honestly Toyota just copied the F-150 and put a stronger engine in it. If you built it bigger doesn't mean it will be better.

Great all round performance

by The Horse Lady from San Diego, USA (5/29/08)
Pros:Plenty of room up front & behind, surprisingly quiet ride, comfortable, handles like a dream
Cons:None so far

I purchased this truck to tow horses and am very happy with my decision. It's very comfortable to drive & the handling is outstanding with a big trailer hitched up. It has good all round vision, you can load it up to the hilt & it doesn't miss a beat, I LOVE that you can control the gears in low, an excellent feature that has come in very handy on dirt roads out in the boonies. Although it is not 4x4 it handles rough roads very well. Love the truck!

Toyota has far surpassed the rest and they are mad

by Tony from Columbus, Georgia (5/21/08)
Pros:Beautiful and Powerful, not much can touch this truck on the road, this 5.7L is a BEAST!!
Cons:Gas Mileage could be better, but with great power comes poor MPG, I can live with it.

I have had my 07 Tundra X-SP for almost a year and I never get tired of getting behind the wheel of this monster 5.7L. Totally stock off the lot it will smoke almost every other stock truck and most cars on the road. Its a true HEMI killer and I love it. Even thought the gas mileage could be better, you get what you pay for. You want big power it comes at a price and anyone buying this truck will see that the benefits are far greater than the price of the fuel. Its not that bad if you can keep your foot out of the throttle. Most people that complain about this trucks MPG have a lead foot anyway. Also it is AMERICAN made, by Americans in at least two American Factories(Texas and Illinois/Ohio) I believe. Find out how many Fords, Dodges and Chevys have many of their parts built outside the US then complain about foreign designers. Ford, Chevy, and Dodge are just mad because now they have to up the anne a bit to keep up with a real truck. Not to mention without the SRTs V10, the Ford Lightning, or the Chevy SS series(where the same motor is used in like 3 or 4 different models) none of the other trucks come close. Yes I have had an F150, GMC Sierra(aka Chevy Silverado), and an older Dodge Ram 1500. So before you start thinking I'm just blowing smoke, think again. Toyota has made a damn fine machine and the rest just need to pick it up a bit. :)
